Busy times at Qwam Qwum Stuwixwulh

Qwam Qwum Stuwixwulh is keeping busy! The senior girls club were recently creating collages about themselves - something to reflect who they are. Looked like a great time for everyone!

GoByBike Week Film Festival

Bicycle Film Festival (BFF) is returning to Nanaimo. Hub City Cycles Community Coop along with the City of Nanaimo is bringing the Film Festival to Nanaimo November 9, 2023, as part of the Fall GoByBike Week. The BFF has been celebrating bicycles through art, film and music for the past 23 years.

The BFF has spanned the world in 100 cities worldwide. This year, BFF Nanaimo presents an international short film program with award-winning and emerging new talent.

Stories include:

  • The 1,900 mile bicycle journey by Erick Cedeno retracing the original route of the Buffalo Soldiers
  • 4X champion, Sonya Looney navigates life as a professional athlete and a pregnant athlete
  • The life of a New York City food delivery worker
  • Cycle sport as relief from genocide
  • How a gold medal in road cycling at the 1984 Olympics changed spandex forever
  • And much more...

An afternoon with the Vancouver Island Symphony

The Vancouver Island Symphony is hosting an open rehearsal "Afternoon with the Vancouver Island Symphony" Friday, November 3 from 2:45 - 4:15pm at the Port Theatre. This free event is open to all NLPS staff. Registration is required.
