ONLINE SAFETY & KINDNESS

Keeping children safe and kind online is a challenge we are facing every day. There are lots of positives to being online for children, from staying in touch with friends to learning about the world. There are some challenges, too, children are spending more time in the digital world than ever before and this online world can be tricky for children to navigate.

We are putting on some workshops in school for parents to give you some help and advice so that you can have more confidence in supporting your children. We will be running one in the evening and one during the daytime, so we do hope that you will be able to join us. Please see dates below:

SPORTS DAYS

Unfortunately the weather has not been on our side this week and we have not been able to hold our sports days. The new dates are as follows:

Please click the links above for a reminder of the details.

Even though sports days didn't happen this week, the children still got to enjoy a lolly as an end of term treat.

YEAR 6 SATS

IMPORTANT FOOD SAFETY

Please can we remind parents and carers that grapes, cherry tomatoes, blueberries etc. are a significant choking risk, particularly in young children. If you include these items in snack boxes and/or packed lunches, please ensure that they are cut up lengthways into quarters. Thank you.

WEST EXIT GATE (GATE 1)

Please note that after half term, the large exit gate by the playground in the West (gate 1) will not be opened at home time. It will still be open for morning drop offs.

MY FUTURE PROFESSION DAY

A reminder that on Friday 14th June we will be having a day focusing on possible jobs and careers to inspire the children and get them thinking about their futures. Children are invited to either come dressed as the job they would like to do in the future, or come in school uniform with a label/badge saying what profession they would like in the future. Please do not feel obliged to buy any clothing or items especially for this day; dress up is entirely optional.

As part of the day we would love it if any parents or family members would like to come in to school to speak to the children about their job role/career. If you are able to help, please complete the form by clicking the button below and we will be in touch. Thank you for your support.

WOOL WANTED!

If you have any spare balls of wool at home, the craft club would be able to make great use of them! Any donations gratefully received.

___________________________

KIDS CLUB ARE WINNERS!

Some of the children who attend Kid's Club entered a national competition to design and draw a monster in a competition called 'Monster Madness'. All of their entries won and will be published in a book of the same name. Well done to Billy, Noomi, Rosie, Cheyenne, Tommy, Patrick and Michael.

NURSERY'S BRILLIANT BISCUITS

The nursery children were asked to design a biscuit linking to their story for this half term 'Come on Daisy!'. They then spoke about the ingredients they would need and looked at these as a class, checking they had everything on the list. The children were then able to decorate their very own biscuit using the main character 'Daisy' from the story. The children did an amazing job of following verbal instructions given by the teachers. They had lots of fun spreading the frosting to make sure the duck would stick and using their fine motor skills to add sprinkles at the end! It was the best morning ever (in the words of all the children!)

FRIENDS OF PARKSIDE LOGO COMPETITION

The Friends of Parkside PTA would like the children to design them a logo. Please could all entries be handed in by Friday 7th June and they will announce a winner on Monday 17th June. Be as creative as you like, but please include the words "The Friends of Parkside PTA".

Feel free to print out and use the template below, or just us a plain piece of A4 but make sure to include your name and class.

SPOTLIGHT ON ATTENDANCE 🔦

Please see below the recent attendance data.. Please remember that absence from school all adds up to a lot of lost learning.

From the first day of term to the last, the small moments in a school day make a real difference to your child. #AttendanceCounts

The Department of Education has advice on improving attendance - click here to view.

School Attendance is ‘everyone’s business’.

What an absence means for your child?

At primary school level, where pupils missing up to 14 days of school in key stage two are a quarter less likely to achieve level five or above in reading, writing or maths tests than those with no absence.

If you have any concerns regarding attendance please do not hesitate to contact Miss Curley, our Safeguarding and Attendance officer here at Parkside Primary School.
