Northeast Middle School Parent Information Night - Jan 17, 2023, from 7:00-8:00 pm

Parent information night involves a presentation from Mr. Seybert and Dirk DeBoer about what to expect for the next school year, course offerings, extracurricular opportunities, our instructional priorities and more. Each session lasts about an hour. We plan for an extended question and answer portion within each session. Separate sessions are held for parents. The session for prospective seventh and eighth grade students will be from 5:30-6:30. The program for incoming sixth grade parents is 7:00-8:00. If you can’t make the presentation sessions, the slide show will be shared via email.

MPS District Vision

The MPS District Vision: Lead with respect, trust and courage. Ensure an equitable, collaborative and inclusive culture. Enable all to achieve success. At Adams Elementary, we follow the vision and the work the district is doing with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion by introducing a vocabulary word to students each month. The word is introduced, and defined, at the morning meeting at least once each week of the month. We also include PYP Learner Profile Attributes. The word(s) for January is culture, and the PYP attribute is inquirer. Culture- set of ideas, customs, traditions, beliefs, and practices shared by a group of people. Be sure and ask your student about the words shared at morning meeting.

A Message From Mrs. Ferguson

Happy New Year and welcome back! This month and next we will be focusing on Social Awareness at Adams. An individual who is socially aware has an open mind toward people who are different from them and accepts them for who they are. By establishing a socially aware culture here at school we increase the likelihood of a positive classroom climate, healthy relationships, responsible decisions, and career success. Two skills that are critical to an individual being socially aware are the ability to actively listen and express empathy. An active listener engages in conversation to understand rather than to simply respond. An empathetic person can show kindness to all. At the end of the day, humans, plants, and animals alike all have differences. By being socially aware we make our planet a place where all have the opportunity to thrive!

Congratulations to the following students for being recognized for their self-management skills in December:

  • K: Treyton Vellanti
  • 2nd: Spencer Gould
  • 3rd: Harleen Bambhania
  • 4th: Lily Good, Zoey Kuehnl

PYP Learner Profile Attribute - Communication

During the month of December, students and staff at Adams focused on developing the PYP learner profile attribute communication. An effective communicator is someone who shares thoughts and ideas respectfully. Additionally, they listen thoughtfully to the ideas and perspectives of others. Communicators also work toward using more than one language to express themselves in many ways.

The following students are being recognized for their exceptional communication skills throughout the month of December:

  • K: Sadie Miller
  • 2: Annabel Hoeffner
  • 3: Evelyn Babalola
  • 4: Carter Lee, Mason Zimmerman, Wesley Turner

Reporting Absences Through ParentVUE

Parents/Guardians can report student(s) absent via ParentVUE. This feature appears as a blue button titled "Report Absences" on the app's main page or website.

  • Parents/guardians can report absences for a single day or multiple days.
  • Report each student individually. Do not enter additional students in the notes section.
  • For each absence reported, parents/guardians must provide a detailed note explaining the reason. If you report your student as sick, please list the symptoms your student is experiencing. The note will help school attendance staff select the correct attendance code.
  • If you have a legal or medical document, please upload it with the absence, or provide it to the school attendance staff upon your student's return. Parents/guardians can still call to report an absence at 989-923-6037.
