News Round Up 25/04/2025

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to all of our students and staff, ready for an exciting Summer term! There is lots to look forward to this term including trips and visits, residentials, visiting speakers, musical and drama performances and of course, lots of fun! It is also exam season, so we would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our students the very best of luck in their upcoming exams, particularly those in Year 11 and the Upper Sixth. We know you will do yourselves proud!

Year 9 Art

Year 9 Art students have been making 3D sculptures this week to use as part of the set design for the upcoming production of Space, taking place on Thursday 1st May. (See below for where to buy tickets).

International Study Centre

Through the ISC, international students have been in touch with a school in Poland. We first made contact through a big online Model United Nations event a year ago and the Polish teacher was so impressed with our Sixth Form girls, and especially how they chaired a challenging discussion, that they wanted to continue our collaboration.

Since then all of the students have met up online to present global issues and answer questions in an international setting. This week a letter arrived with lots of poems on friendship. We were so excited and really loved reading the poetry. Now it is our turn to write poems and send them to Poland.

Prep Chapel Service

On Friday, Lower Sixth student Neve, our new Head of Celts, assisted Chaplain Katie in telling the story of Easter to the Prep School whilst gathered in the Chapel.

Along with Hospice Chaplain Claire Wells, they brought the story to life from behind the scenes using puppets. Neve did a fantastic job and even helped the students with their Alleluia Butterflies!

Year 12 Student Shines at Professional Skills Workshop

During the Easter break, Year 12 student, Kate, participated in a virtual work experience hosted by leading firms from the accounting and consulting world — including KPMG, BDO, Grant Thornton, Saffery Champness (S&W), and CIMA. The event gave participants a real insight into the world of accounting, consulting, and tax advisory, with practical sessions focused on business analysis, profit and loss assessments, consulting challenges, and pitching ideas to industry professionals.

A special congratulations to Kate, who not only took part in the event but was awarded a certificate and commendation for her outstanding contribution. Well done Kate!

Accounting and Personal Finance Workshops

The final session of the Accounting and Personal Finance workshops for Year 11 and the Sixth Form, delivered by Pearson and Mrs Osew, marked the end of an engaging and insightful journey for our students. Over the course, students gained practical knowledge on budgeting, saving, investing, and understanding financial statements skills that are essential for both academic and real-world success.

These workshops have not only deepened students' understanding of accounting principles but also empowered them to make informed financial decisions in their personal lives. With interactive activities, real-life scenarios, and expert guidance from Pearson facilitators, students left each session feeling more confident about managing their finances and exploring future career paths in business and finance.
