Welcome to the start of Term 2! Staff Development Days The term commenced with two dedicated Staff Development Days. The first day was a collaborative event held at Kingscliff High School with our local Coastal Learning Community of Public Schools, including Bogangar, Cudgen, Duranbah, Fingal Head, Kingscliff and Pottsville Beach. The focus was on disability, neurodiversity, and inclusive education, offering 15 different courses facilitated by specialists in each area to over 300 staff members across our school community. This collaboration is invaluable, allowing our network of schools to share expertise and develop a common understanding, not only in this area but in all aspects of our partnership. We extend our sincere thanks to Mrs Rowles, Head Teacher of Teaching & Learning, and the organising team across all schools for their excellent coordination. The second day concentrated on High Potential Gifted Education as well as Literacy and Numeracy objectives. These focus areas are vital components of our school’s Excellence Plan, reflecting our commitment to providing outstanding educational outcomes for all students.
ANZAC Day The spirit of service and leadership was on full display this ANZAC Day, as our student leaders played a central role in local commemorations despite challenging weather conditions. Archie, Phoenix, Meika and Ben represented the school with distinction at the Kingscliff RSL Sub-Branch services, demonstrating exceptional preparation and professionalism. Their efforts were supported through close collaboration with Hayden Draman, Honorary Secretary of the Kingscliff Sub-Branch. We also extend our sincere thanks to Wendy Bowler from the Pottsville and District RSL Sub-Branch for her coordination of our students. Archie, in his role as School Captain, led the Pottsville service with confidence and pride, exemplifying strong leadership. A special mention goes to Holly, who delivered a moving rendition of the national anthem at both the Kingscliff dawn service and the Pottsville service. We thank our Music faculty teacher, Ms Broad, for her guidance and support in preparing Holly for these performances. Despite a rain-soaked morning and trying conditions, all students conducted themselves with confidence and pride, representing the school admirably. It was also wonderful to see additional students participate in the march along Marine Parade later in the morning. Finally, we acknowledge and thank Ms McNeal, Ms Levi, Mr Phyland and Mr Walker for their valuable support in ensuring the success of these events. We are incredibly proud of all involved for their contribution to such an important day of remembrance. Our school will be holding an ANZAC Ceremony today.

2027 YEAR 7 EXTENSION CLASS APPLIATIONS
2027 Year 7 Extension Class (formerly known as the Pinnacle Program) Expressions of Interest (EOIs) are now open for the 2027 Year 7 Extension Class (formerly known as the Pinnacle Program). Extension classes:
- provide learning opportunities that nurture the talent development of high potential and gifted students across learning areas
- provide accessible, inclusive pathways for high potential and gifted students across the domains of potential
- cater for local students with demonstrated or emerging potential in 2 or more domains of potential. They focus beyond the academic domain.
High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) domains of potential often overlap, and evidence suggests that integrating students who excel in different domain areas can support learning outcomes. In 2027 our Year 7 Extension Class will focus on talent development in the intellectual and creative domains of potential for students by providing extended learning opportunities across all subject areas. The creative domain focuses on fostering students' abilities to generate original ideas, think divergently, and express themselves through innovative and imaginative activities. It encourages nurturing creativity across various forms such as writing and problem-solving to enhance students' expressive and inventive capabilities. The intellectual domain emphasises the development of advanced cognitive skills, critical thinking, and deep understanding across academic disciplines. It supports students in engaging with complex concepts, abstract reasoning, and higher-order thinking to challenge their intellectual potential and academic achievement. We will foster a stimulating and supportive environment where students engage in rigorous, challenging learning activities. Students will be led through opportunities to cultivate both their curiosity and creativity, challenge their intellectual thinking, and build confidence and resilience throughout their academic journey. Learners will be inspired to develop their talents, pursue excellence, embrace challenges with enthusiasm, and cultivate a lifelong passion for discovery, innovation, and meaningful contribution to society. JUNIOR COMMITTEE MEMBERS WANTED
Junior Tweed River Agricultural Society Committee The Tweed River Agricultural Society is establishing a Junior Committee to support local agriculture, the society and the Murwillumbah Show. The Show Society is a whole of shire society, and they sincerely want to increase involvement from schools and youth in the Agricultural Society. The Murwillumbah Show has been running since 1898. It is one of the longest running country shows in Australia, having only been halted 10 times for wars, flood and pandemics. It celebrates an important part of the heritage of the shire, and that is of the timber cutters and farmers who first came to the lands of the Bundjalung Nation and began creating the towns and industries that we see today as the Tweed Shire. This year the show is on Friday 30 October 2026 and Saturday 31 October 2026.For more information, interested students are encouraged to contact the Show Secretary (secretary@murwillumbahshow.com) or see Mr Haines / Mrs O'Keeffe
