This april, thank a lineworker

This April, we recognize and thank the dedicated lineworkers who keep our communities powered and safe 24 hours a day. Like other first responders, they work in all kinds of weather and challenging conditions to ensure reliable electric service for our homes and businesses. While restoring power after storms is one of the most visible parts of the job, lineworkers’ work goes far beyond outages. They install new services, maintain and upgrade power lines, inspect equipment, and respond to emergencies. Working outdoors means facing heat, cold, wind, and long hours—and sometimes the unexpected. Wildlife like squirrels and snakes are common causes of outages, and lineworkers regularly encounter them while working. Becoming a lineworker requires skill, commitment, and extensive training. Most begin with a high school diploma or equivalent and complete a paid apprenticeship that typically lasts four years. Apprentices receive hands-on field experience and instruction before advancing. Ongoing training ensures crews stay current on equipment, procedures, and safety standards. We are proud to honor our lineworkers for their dedication and service. If you would like to share your appreciation, simply scan the QR Code to send a message of thanks. #ThankALineworker

Lineworkers are Geared for Safety!

Lineworkers climb with up to 40 pounds of safety gear and tools. Here is what they typically wear to stay safe while working: • Hard hat and safety glasses • Tools and equipment • Rubber gloves and sleeves • Climbing belts • Fall-protection harnesses • Arc-rated and flame-resistant clothing

Powering a brighter, cleaner future

Powering your home or business is only part of what we do at Central Georgia EMC (CGEMC). As a member-owned cooperative, we are committed to providing energy solutions that reflect our values, including supporting a brighter, cleaner energy future for the communities we serve. One of the ways we do this is through our Cooperative Solar and Green Energy (Biomass) Programs. These renewable energy options allow members to support alternative energy sources without the cost or maintenance of installing equipment at home. Instead of placing solar panels on your rooftop, you can participate in solar energy that is generated in our region. Our Green Energy program uses biomass—a renewable resource created from natural materials like wood waste—to generate electricity. By incorporating these renewable sources into our overall power supply, CGEMC can reduce reliance on traditional fuel sources while maintaining the reliability and affordability our members expect. Participation in Cooperative Solar and Green Energy helps diversify how electricity is produced, reduces environmental impact, and supports long-term sustainability efforts. It also reflects the cooperative principle of Concern for Community by allowing members to play an active role in supporting responsible energy solutions for future generations. Together, through voluntary programs like these, our membership is helping power progress toward a more balanced and sustainable energy future, one that values innovation, stewardship, and community responsibility. Your choices today help power a brighter, cleaner tomorrow. Learn more at www.cgemc.com under Energy Solutions.

Upgrade Comfort. Save Energy

Your home’s heating and cooling system plays a major role in comfort and energy use. If your HVAC system is aging or no longer meets your needs, upgrading to a more efficient system can help improve comfort while managing monthly costs. Central Georgia EMC partners with HomeServe to offer a convenient option for HVAC replacement through the Advantage Program. This option connects members with trusted professionals who handle the process from evaluation to installation, helping ensure systems are properly sized and installed for each home. In addition, Central Georgia EMC offers energy efficiency rebates for qualifying HVAC upgrades. Members who install eligible high-efficiency systems may be able to combine this option with available rebates, helping reduce upfront costs and improve long-term energy savings. A high-efficiency HVAC system can provide more consistent temperatures, improved performance, and dependable comfort throughout the year. Learn more at www.cgemc.com/homeserve and www.cgemc.com/residential-rebates.

Central Georgia Electric Membership Corporation Announces Unclaimed Capital Credits Checks for 2025

CGEMC is a not-for-profit organization. This means any excess revenue, after covering operating costs, is returned to our members in the form of a capital credits check (based on each member’s energy use). In December 2025, CGEMC issued capital credits refund checks. However, some of the refund checks issued were returned by the U.S. Postal Service as undeliverable. A list of the names of these members can be found by visiting our website, www.cgemc.com/capital-credits, or by viewing the list at our corporate office located at 923 S. Mulberry Street, Jackson, GA 30233. If you know the correct address of these individuals or have any helpful information, please contact our office or notify the member to contact us as soon as possible by calling 770-775-7857 or 1-800-222-4877.

Unclaimed Property

Central Georgia EMC is trying to locate parties that had outstanding credit balances as of June 30, 2021. Visit www.cgemc.com/capital-credits for a full list of names. If you know any of the people listed or their heirs, please have them contact our office during regular business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 770-775-7857 or 1-800-222-4877. Unclaimed property will be sent to the State of Georgia if not claimed.

Offering support for our communities

Operation Round Up gives Central Georgia EMC members a simple way to support the communities we serve. Members who choose to participate allow their monthly electric bill to round up to the nearest dollar. The extra cents go directly to the Central Georgia EMC Foundation, which provides grants to local nonprofits, schools, and community programs. The average participating member contributes about $6 a year. While each individual contribution is small, together those pennies help fund projects that strengthen communities across the Central Georgia EMC service area. Enrollment is simple; visit www.cgemc.com to sign up. All contributions are tax-deductible.

Qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations in our service territory are invited to submit an application to the Central Georgia EMC Foundation.

Through Operation Round Up, our members support local organizations with a mission to make our communities even better places to live, work, and dream big. By simply rounding up your monthly electric bill to the next dollar, you can join in! Our pennies add up to make BIG CHANGE!
