Campbell Law School to launch Veterans Legal Clinic this fall
Campbell Law School will launch a Veterans Legal Clinic this fall, Dean J. Rich Leonard has announced. The law school's newest clinic will provide representation and advocacy for former members of the Armed Services, who are challenging their discharge classifications. With and through student representation on these petitions, former service members will gain the ability to receive greater Veterans Affairs benefits, status and services after their discharge from the Armed Services. The clinic will be located in the Wells Fargo building on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh. A formal grand opening ceremony for the clinic is set for Sept. 4 at 5:30 p.m. Sebastian Kielmanovich, the clinic director, serves as Immigration and Criminal Defense Counsel at Triangle Immigration & Criminal Defense. King Law welcomes five Campbell Law students this summer
King Law has welcomed its most geographically diverse class of Summer Law Clerks, who include Campbell Law students Natalie Carter ‘27, Jordyn Clark ‘28, Anna Mueller ‘27, Chloe Proffitt ‘27 and Courtney Rea ‘28, the firm has announced. Representing 13 law schools from across the country, this year’s group will be working in King Law offices located throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and — for the first time — Tennessee. Three Campbell Law students participate in Ward and Smith summer associate program
Three Campbell Law students are participating in Ward and Smith’s 2025 Summer Associate Program, which runs from May 12 to June 20, gaining practical legal experience from case strategy discussions to writing and research assignments. Gavin Dacier ‘26, Stephanie Moore ‘26 and Pierce Shipway ‘26 are among the seven law students participating in program that runs through June 20. “We are thrilled to welcome such an accomplished and enthusiastic group of law students to Ward and Smith,” said Co-Managing Director and Campbell Law alumna Devon Williams ‘12. “Our Summer Associate Program is designed to give participants a true sense of life at our firm. From day one, they’ll be immersed in meaningful work that reflects the collaborative, client-focused culture that defines us. Campbell Law's Rick Glazier appointed to N.C. Disciplinary Hearing Commission
Campbell Law's Clinical Professor Rick Glazier, director of the Blanchard Community Law Clinic (BCLC), has been appointed by the North Carolina State Bar to a three-year term on the Disciplinary Hearing Commission (DHC), N.C. State Bar Executive Director Peter Bolac has announced. The DHC hears and resolves disciplinary complaints against attorneys in North Carolina and enters orders of discipline in appropriate cases. Glazier’s appointment is effective on July 1, 2025, and will end on June 30, 2028, according to the announcement. This is just one of the notable positions Glazier has held since joining Campbell Law as an adjunct professor in 1991. Learn more at this link
American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) features Campbell Law Clinic Director Ciara Rogers
Campbell Law's Stubbs Bankruptcy Clinic Director Ciara Rogers has been profiled by the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) in an article entitled, “Ciara L. Rogers: A Legacy of Service, Empathy and Entrepreneurial Spirit.” A partner at Waldrep Wall Babcock & Bailey PLLC, the article written by Rachel Kinzer of Moore Colson highlights Rogers’ journey and her impactful work in bankruptcy law. Since the 2018-2019 academic year, Rogers has lead the law school’s bankruptcy clinic where she supervises second- and third-year law students in providing pro bono bankruptcy representation to low-wealth individuals in the Eastern District of North Carolina. Samantha Border ’25 participates in Baylor Law’s 2025 National Top Gun Mock Trial Competition
Campbell Law's Samantha Border ’25 was among 16 participants in Baylor Law School’s 16th annual 2025 National Top Gun Mock Trial Competition, one of the country’s most prestigious and demanding events for student advocates, sponsored by MG+M law firm on May 28-June 1. Campbell Law was the only North Carolina law school represented in the competition. The 16 competitors are selected by their schools for their advocacy skills and winning achievements in other mock trial competitions. They received the case file just 24 hours before the opening rounds, requiring them to swiftly analyze large amounts of complex materials and documents and devise a compelling case strategy under considerable time constraints. It's not too late to sign up for Campbell Law Alumni Association's 'Connecting with Campbell Law' CLEs
In honor of the Campbell Law Alumni Association‘s 10th anniversary, the Association will host 10 additional hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) throughout the state during 2025 in addition to its six-hour annual CLE in October, Assistant Dean of External Relations Megan Sherron ‘10 has announced. Alumni Association members can attend the CLEs for FREE and non-members and guests pay $50 each (with the exception of the annual CLE in October). Current students, faculty and staff can also attend for free but must register in advance. Learn more at this link.
Campbell Law Spotlight: Elizabeth Sharpe ’27
Elizabeth Sharpe ’27 is among the current seven law student recipients of the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) 2025 Annual Summer Internship Scholarship, the NCBA has announced. The scholarships are sponsored by the NCBA’s Criminal Justice, Government & Public Sector and Zoning, Planning and Land Use Sections. Sharpe is currently interning with the North Carolina Department of Justice Special Litigation Section. Learn more at this link.
