Director's Corner

Dr. Jodie Rommel, Director of Integrated Services

Dear Families,

I hope this finds you doing well!

In April, 2025, PSD established the Comprehensive Planning Committee to monitor the utilization of schools, look at boundaries/attendance areas, evaluate facilities for new construction or renovation, and develop criteria for school closure, consolidation, or expansion discussions.

This committee will be making recommendations to the PSD Board of Education as our district grapples with declining enrollment and the need to develop an approach to school consolidation. I want to be sure that the voices of our Integrated Services families are heard and considered in this process. Traci Gile, Assistant Superintendent, will be joining me for two listening sessions to elicit your feedback. One session will be in-person and one session will be virtual:

  • In-Person: Monday, March 2nd from 5:00-6:00pm - ITC Building Greyrock Room – 2413 Laporte Avenue, Fort Collins
  • Virtual: Thursday, March 5th from 6:30-7:30pm – Meeting Link

There is no need to register, please just show up! If you would like more information, a calendar invitation, or meeting reminders, please contact Barb Moreng at bamoreng@psdschools.org or 970-490-3225. All the best, Jodie

SEAC Update

The Special Education Advisory Committee is made up of parents, community partners, and PSD staff. The purpose of SEAC is to represent students with disabilities and advise the Special Education Leadership Team on their behalf. The fifth SEAC meeting was held on February 18th and the topic was Comprehensive Planning Committee Updates. Dr. Julie Chaplain, Assistant Superintendent, shared information about the committee's charge and scope, their progress to date, PSD's declining enrollment, and the need for consolidation of some schools. As we develop an approach to school consolidation, SEAC members provided input on ways to

  • keep our community informed
  • make the process successful
  • be unified as a district rather than divided as schools or groups

Meeting notes and action letter will be posted on the SEAC page when available.
