Principal Message

As we enter our final full week of school, there is much to be grateful for and much still to look forward to. Our Grade 6 students will begin their Provincial Achievement Tests—an important milestone that reflects their growth and learning. Many of our classes are also preparing for exciting year-end field trips and fun activities to celebrate a year of hard work and faith-filled community.

In the busyness of these last days, may we take time to pause, give thanks, and truly appreciate the blessings that surround us. Each smile, each moment of learning, each act of kindness—these are gifts from God that have filled our school year.

Let us continue to walk these final steps of the journey together with joy, gratitude, and hearts open to God’s presence in our midst.

Blessings on the week ahead,

Mrs. Carr-Jeschke & Mrs. McNamee

Staffing Updates

With the new school year approaching, we are pleased to welcome some new faces to St. Paul School!

We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Melissa Guzzo to our school community next year. She brings with her over 20 years of teaching experience across various grade levels and has most recently been teaching at an International Baccalaureate school in China. With a strong background in STEM, Ms. Guzzo is passionate about inspiring curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity in her students.

We are also pleased to welcome Ms. Shanelle Potolicki to our staff, who will be joining the Grade 1 team! Ms. Potoliki has taught most recently at St. Francis of Assisi and is passionate about literacy instruction and creating caring and nurturing environments. We are happy to have her join Mrs. Doram in creating our Grade 1 Team!

Other Changes: Mrs. Dent will be moving up to Grade 4 full time; we are so excited her expertise is staying at St. Paul!

Air Quality

With the warmer weather and the increase of wild fires both in the province and the surrounding provinces, please be aware that Air Quality statements can impact school activities and recesses.

Air quality is to be monitored similar to extreme cold temperatures. The suggested guideline is that students do not go outside when air quality reaches an index of 7 or more. Principals are to carefully monitor the air quality in their area when the index reaches levels of 4-6, indicating a moderate risk.

Should air quality reach an index of 7 or higher, recesses, as well as outdoor activities and field trips will be cancelled or moved indoors. This is to ensure that all students remain safe and healthy. For more information, please see ECSD's Health, Safety, Well Being and Weather information.

Air Quality Advisories do have the potential to impact year end field trips and activities. When at all possible, every attempt will be made to rebook these activities. If rebooking is not possible, as we reach limited days in our school year, we will work hard to arrange alternative activities for students here at the school. If parents have paid for a field trip that was cancelled, they will receive a credit on PowerSchool for the cost.

If fieldtrips do require a cancellation because of Air Quality, teachers will email families no later than 7AM the morning of the fieldtrip.

Healthy Hunger- Date Change!

The Healthy Hunger Pizza Hut lunch that was supposed to be on Friday, June 13th has been moved to the last day of school - June 25th.

This change was made due to the June 13th being Fun Day, and all students receiving a hot dog lunch.

If you ordered for June 13- you will receive the order on June 25.

Important Dates (June)

June 16: Year End Mass @ SJE- 9:30 AM (Candle ceremony to follow mass at the Church)

June 17: Grade 6 PAT Math Part B

June 18: Grade 6 PAT Social Studies

June 19: Grade 6 Farewell @ 10:30 AM (St. Paul Gym)

Student Pick Ups/Drop Offs

When dropping off/picking up students, please use the designated drop off zones. These are 96 Ave (in front of the school) and 145 Street (the west side of the school).

Please DO NOT use the staff parking lot for student drop offs or pick ups. There are a lot of blind spots and staff vehicles, along with Division vehicles, coming in and out of the lot. This creates a very unsafe environment for students to be walking through.

Please choose safety over convenience and use marked cross walks and drop off zones to ensure students arrive safely to and from school.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Have a wonderful weekend!
