The culture and values of Harvard Lacrosse are based on an appreciation and gratitude for the gift of being a Student-Athlete at Harvard. The expectation of our student-athletes is to immerse themselves completely and passionately in the subject and concentration area of their choice. This passion and freedom to study "what they want" will lead to success and intellectual development that will prepare them for a life of meaning and impact after graduation.
Harvard should not be viewed as "trade school" but rather an incubator of thought, creativity, ideas and dreams.
The pursuit of this growth and broadening of your mind will create impressive candidates for the real world regardless of their Concentration/Major. The Harvard Alumni Network, and our Career Services will be poised to open their arms and doors to facilitate this transition when the moment comes whether your goal is Finance, Medicine, Law, Engineering, Business, Education, Service or beyond.
Concentrations
There are 50 different concentrations that students may consider. Many concentrations offer different tracks within the concentration to allow students to specialize within a particular area. Students may consider completing a joint concentration – a joining of two overlapping concentrations where students complete requirements from both concentrations and ordinarily complete a thesis joining both fields in their senior year.
Regardless of your concentration, all students will enroll in General Education courses. These courses focus on urgent problems and are explicit in connecting the topics of the course to the world beyond the classroom. Students take one course in each of the four categories: Aesthetics & Culture, Ethics & Civics, Histories, Societies, Individuals & Science & Technology in Society
