JAPANESE CLASSICS WITH POSH JAH STYLE
JANUARY 2, 2026 . . . Centrally located near Nyhavn Canal on Borgergade, Posh Jah is one of Cofoco’s Japanese gems, bringing soul-driven Japanese cooking to the heart of Copenhagen. The restaurant is the stylish sister to the ever-popular Jah Izakaya and Sake Bar in Vesterbro — familiar at heart, with a few extra touches, yet staying true to its roots. Both restaurants are popular with locals from the creative industry and are frequented by many of Copenhagen’s famous chefs - all are welcome.
At Posh Jah, you’ll find a new menu of Japanese classics made with the very best local and Japanese ingredients, plus plenty of favorites you already know and love from Jah Izakaya. Where Jah Izakaya keeps things strictly izakaya-style, Posh Jah turns things up a notch with sushi and tempura joining the party and adding a new dimension to the experience.
After a full makeover last year, the space is pure Japanese calm with a modern twist: clean lines, organic materials, and art that nods to both Japan and its sister restaurant. Light wooden planks cover tables and surfaces, filling the room with warmth and brightness — perfect for everything from cozy dates to lively group dinners. The new menu brings Jah Izakaya classics into the city and spices things up with seasonal dishes you’ll only find at Posh Jah. Think raw and elegant seafood, crunchy fried chicken, juicy tonkatsu — Jaaaahsss, please! Seasonal highlights include Jah Rice (Koshi-hikari rice topped with trout roe), Ebi Cream Korokke (creamy croquettes with langoustine), Ika Shumai (steamed squid dumplings), and Karei no Nitsuke (halibut gently cooked with sake and soy). Classic lovers can dive into the freshest sashimi of the day, Ika Ichiyaboshi (aged and grilled Danish squid), or Gyutataki — Japanese-style raw organic beef carpaccio with yuzu ponzu and Japanese mayo. Don’t forget a side of homemade kimchi. Trust us.
Everything on the table is made from the season’s best ingredients — straight from the garden, the sea, and the farm. It’s honest Japanese food with big flavor and zero fuss. To drink? A carefully curated lineup of wine, cocktails, junmai sake, and, naturally, ice-cold Jah beer.
Behind it all is Shinya, the culinary force behind both Jah Izakaya and Posh Jah. With more than 10 years of training at the Michelin-starred Kyoto Kitcho, plus experience from France and Switzerland, Shinya brought his craft — and his family — to Copenhagen, where he became one of the founding members of Jah and a key voice in the city’s Japanese food scene.
WINE France, Spain, Italy and more
We offer a carefully selected wine list of mostly European wines. The list contains both classic wines and more experimental wines. All the wines shares a focus on good craftsmanship and a terroir-driven expression. Burgundy, Jura, Alsace, Auvergne, Loire, Piedmont, Austria and even Japan is all represented on the list. You’ll find juicy, serious, funny, classic, deeb, red, orange, white bottles on the list. Go explore.
SAKE
Japanese izakayas and sake belong together. Sake is a sophisticated and very nuanced product with a delightful uplifting effect which, in contrast to most traditional wines, is perfectly complimentary to the subtle flavours of Japanese cuisine – especially izakaya.
Posh Jah offers a wide selection of sake - from high end Junmai to the unique, unfiltered “natural sakes”.
If sake alone is not enough, our list also includes a fine selection of Shochu and Japanese whisky.
BEER
Posh Jah also loves beer, why we have developed a unique beer in collaboration with the magnificent Beer Here and Penyllan Brewery on the Danish island Bornholm.
Jah Beer is a light IPA with notes of fresh yuzu and Japanese hops that compliments the flavors of the food perfectly. Best served as draft beer in a frozen glass, or to take away by the bottle.

Posh Jah is located at Borgergade 17A, 1300 Copenhagen K. Opening Hours Monday — Sunday from 17:30 — 24:00 (last food order 21:30) Booking@poshjah.dk
