Council Meeting
The next regular City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers located at 5938 Kauffman Avenue. Members of the public can attend the meeting in person or watch the livestream of the meeting online by CLICKING HERE and on Youtube, ConnectwithTC.
Youth Committee
The Youth Committee will resume their monthly meeting on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Halloween Carnival
Join us Tuesday, October 31, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for a ghoulish good time! Families are invited to a fun Halloween event at Live Oak Park, located at 10144 Bogue Street. Enjoy spooky decorations, arts and crafts, have fun at our 20 game booths, jump around at our inflatable zone, capture a memory at the photo booth, enjoy a delicious meal and treat from food trucks, take a walk down the trunk or treat, and enjoy tons of candy! Keep an eye out for the Costume Patrol! This year, special guests will be patrolling the Halloween event in search of stand-out Halloween costumes. All awardees will be presented with a unique prize. L.E.A.D. Program
The Leadership Education and Development program (LEAD) facilitates opportunities for middle school and high school students ages 12–17 years old to earn volunteer service-learning hours, develop confidence in leadership skills through a mentorship program, and learn about educational and future career opportunities. In addition to accruing community service hours needed for school, participants will develop various leadership skills to create positive impacts in the Temple City Community. Youth Basketball
Dribble, shoot, score! Register youth ages 3.5 years- 14 years (8th grade) for our popular basketball program, where participants play in a fun, exciting, and positive environment. Participants will practice friendly competition, fair play, teamwork, and sportsmanship while learning the fundamentals of basketball and improving their technique. Top players may go on to play for the Temple City All-Star Team and compete against other cities in the Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation (SCMAF) competition. Veterans Day Celebration
Join us as we commemorate the service, sacrifice, and immeasurable contributions of our veterans who have proudly worn our country’s uniform to defend and preserve our precious liberty. The City of Temple City will celebrate Veterans Day on November 11, 2023. The celebration will take place at Temple City Park and feature speeches, aircraft flyovers, recognition of veterans in attendance, and other commemorative festivities. The program will begin at 10:30 A.M. at Temple City Park’s Performing Arts Pavilion, located at 9701 Las Tunas Dr., Temple City. For more information, please visit www.templecity.us/veterans.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
Las Tunas Drive Streetscape Improvements
On October 13, the City Council approved a proposal to re-fresh Las Tunas Drive. The proposal includes the following tasks:
- Re-paint all the traffic signals, streetlights, benches, trash cans, and other street furniture
- Re-level the concrete pavers
- Bring in new pots for landscaping
- Convert all the streetlights to LED
- Create a grant program to help businesses purchase café furniture, blade signs, and awnings
- Start a permit program for parklets and pedestrian boardwalks
- Add public art to the utility boxes
The city will develop a website to keep the community informed on the physical improvements and available grant opportunities.
