Remembrance Day 2023

On Saturday, November 11, 2023, we honour and remember the brave soldiers who sacrificed so much for our freedom. Let's take a moment to reflect and express our gratitude. Lest we forget.

Draft Strategic Plan

Welcome to the community engagement process on the revised Strategic Plan for Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools. The Board has met throughout the past few months to develop a draft Strategic Plan and now requests your input. Participants will be encouraged to provide overall feedback of the plan.

This initial opportunity for feedback will help guide the Board’s plan to create a formal version of a Strategic Plan and its objectives for further consultation at a later date.

Transgender Awareness Week

It’s Transgender Awareness Week from November 13-19, 2023. Let’s celebrate and support our transgender friends, family and community. Transgender Awareness Week is about raising awareness and showing love for the transgender community. Join us in spreading love, acceptance and understanding. Together we can make the world a more inclusive and accepting place. #TransgenderWeek #LoveIsLove

Energy Cup & Energy Cup MINI

The 9th Annual Energy Cup and 3rd Annual Energy Cup MINI runs from November 1, 2023 until February 29, 2024. Both Energy Cups are district-wide competitions that empower teachers and students to save energy and think about sustainability in schools.

This competition also encourages schools to collectively work towards the Board of Education's Goal To be a leader in environmental stewardship and sustainability. Listen to how some schools were making a difference last year:

Business Committee Meeting

At the Business Committee meeting on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, the committee recommended the Board of Education approve to award KMBR Architects Planners Inc. for the development of the PDR of the Ladysmith Intermediate Seismic Mitigation Project and the PDR of the Ladysmith Primary expansion project.

The committee received the 2023-2024 first quarter financial report and a Randerson Ridge parking update.

Theatre One Preparing to Kick off Just Kidding for Kids Series

On Sunday, November 26, at the Malaspina Theatre, Theatre One kicks off the first performance in the Just Kidding for Kids Series. Through My Eyes is intended to stimulate a child's senses and inspire their imagination.

ADHD Education Day

On Monday, December 11, 2023 from 9am until 3pm, the Provincial ADHD Clinic at BC Children's Hospital is holding their annual ADHD Education Day for parents and professionals. This event is accessible in person as well as via Zoom.

Some of the sessions include:

  • ADHD Basics
  • Parenting a Child with ADHD
  • Medication Treatment and Management
  • ADHD and Sensory Motor Regulation
  • Panel Discussion
