Students received their student ID badge after school pictures were delivered. Once ID badges are returned to the school, students are required to carry or wear them. Replacement IDs are available in the main office; you may be charged to replace them.

December 4th-8th Book Drive

(benefiting Penn State Lehigh Valley THON charities)

The MS Library will be collecting gently used books for children of all ages during the week of December 4th-8th. The Library will be partnering with PSU-LV to collect books for the Reading Rocks program ($1 is donated to THON for every book received) and the books are then distributed to children in need in the Lehigh Valley. Please consider donating gently used elementary and middle school books for this worthy program. Drop off any donations in the MS Library. Thank you!!!

Message from the Guidance Office

If you have recently moved please provide two new proofs of residency and update your sapphire account so we can make updates for mailings and transportation for the 2023-2024 school year.

Art Club

After-School Small Group Tutoring Program Club

Do not wait to sign up! Sign your child up for the After-School Small Group Tutoring Program where they will receive help with their assignments. This is open to all NAMS students! After-School Small Group Tutoring Program will be held Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 2:30pm - 3:30pm. Additional Questions email Mr. Rex at rexm@nasdschools.org.

Math Club

Math Club is open to all NAMS students! Math Club allows students to further understand their math skills through math games and activities! We also have a section for Chess Players! Math Club meets on Wednesdays starting at 2:30.

Yearbook Club

This club is no longer accepting applications. If spots open a sign-up link will be posted at that time. Thank you!

Our November 14th meeting will be for the cast of Peter Pan Jr. ONLY! Please practice “Neverland” before rehearsal and keep checking Schoology for updates! Stage Crew application forms and work samples will be due on December 1st.

The Orchestra students have been hard at work learning their music for the upcoming concert on December 1, 2023.

Concert attire for our MS performance is:

  • Girls - All Black: either a black dress or black shirt and black pants. Skirts must be below the knees.
  • Boys - A white dress shirt and black pants.

Please ensure that all concert attire follows appropriate dress code.

Band

The winter concert will take place on December 8th and the spring concert on May 21. Both will start at 7:00pm in the High School auditorium.

Jazz band auditions will be on Wednesday, November 1st from 2:30-4:00 AND Thursday, November 2nd at the same time. The first rehearsal will be the following Wednesday (November 7th). All instruments welcome! (Including guitar, bass, drums, and piano). Rehearsals will be Wednesdays from 2:30-4:00pm. All non-band students should send Mr. Leavitt a message on schoology to receive the audition materials.

This group will perform at the spring band concert, as well as a few individual performances TBA.

All band parents be on the lookout for emails from “Big N Band - Charms” for updates.

Newspaper Club

MIDDLE SCHOOL WINTER SPORTS SIGN UP INFORMATION

It's that time of year to begin to sign up for winter sports! Here's what you need to know! Please visit the athletic webpage for the Winter Sports Welcome Letter and directions on how to register with Arbiter Sports (Formerly Family ID) . In the letter is the date for free physical on NOVEMBER 1, 2023 at the High School Main Gym from 5-7pm.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE REGISTERED FIRST PRIOR TO ATTENDING PHYSICALS ON NOVEMBER 1ST!!!

Middle School Sports is only available for current 7th and 8th graders . There are NO PIAA sports for 6th graders.

The PTA will be meeting Wednesday, November 15, 2023 in the Middle School. Anyone interested in learning more or joining is encouraged to attend.

Just a reminder for students entering the 2023-2024 school year of the documents required by the Nurses office:

6TH GRADERS

***Need a PHYSICAL EXAM on file. If they have had a well visit in 5th grade, please send it to the nurse office with an immunization record. If they are scheduled for a well visit, please send in a copy of the visit and a shot record after the appointment.

**** MCV and Tdap(need to receive during 6th grade year)

7TH GRADERS

*****DENTAL EXAM ( Can be done during 6th or 7th grade)

MEDICATION FORMS

(Long Term or Short Term)

Completed by the doctor for each school year and brought to school by adult with medication.

OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATION

We are able to give students medication from the approved list but we need parental consent each year. The form can be found here. Consent can also be given in Sapphire via the backpack

Procedural Reminders

  • *Cellphones, earbuds, and other personal electronic devices are not permitted throughout the school day.
  • Doors open at 7:09 a.m., and homeroom begins at 7:24. Students not in the homeroom at 7:24 will be marked tardy.
  • All student absences require a parent/doctor’s note within three days of the student’s return to school.
  • Remember, you should only be visiting sites assigned by the teacher during specific class periods. Remember, we can see you wherever you go online!

Food Pantry

Are you in need of food items to help you prepare nutritious meals? The NAMS food pantry is available during the school year to provide assistance to families in need.

The food pantry will also accept donations of non-perishable, non-expired food items, backpacks, hygiene items and reusable water bottles. Donations can be dropped off throughout the year with security at the main entrance.

Does your child need a winter coat? Please contact Robyn Ginther gintherr@nasdschools.org to request a coat.

St. Lukes YESS!: St. Lukes YESS! provides individual one on one counseling sessions to those participating. There is a face to face or telemedicine option. This service is billed through insurance.

Cbits (Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools) FREE: This program assists students in addressing trauma that has been experienced. There are individual and group counseling sessions.

Low cost Internet options

The Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC program to help families and households struggling to afford internet service. This program replaces the former Emergency Broadband Benefit. This new benefit will connect eligible households by providing up to $30 per month per qualified household for Internet Access. In many cases, this benefit can provide families with free Internet access.
