MOUNTAIN GUIDE

I am Caleb Bosanko, from Chino Hills, California. I am a junior studying Bible and Theology at Biola University.

Keep scrolling down to learn more about what I am doing this summer and why I am raising support!

How did you hear about Beyond? I heard about Beyond Malibu from a friend at Biola. We were at a Christmas party and I mentioned that I was interested in wilderness youth discipleship programs. My friend then told me about Beyond and that her dad served as a mountain guide for Beyond back in the 90s. From there I found Beyond's website and applied.

What are you looking forward to this summer? This summer I am so excited to have the privilege of being a mountain guide for Beyond Malibu! I will have the opportunity to share the Gospel and help high school students grow in their faith, as I help lead them through the mountains of British Columbia in Canada. This is truly a dream come true for me as it is combining two of the things that I love the most, youth ministry and awesome adventures through the beauty of God's creation. The trips that I will help lead will provide students with a space away from the distractions of life to focus on their relationships with God and each other as we are immersed in natural beauty of the world God made for us. I am excited both to help guide these students through the mountains, but also more importantly, in their own journeys of faith. This role is such a privilege as I not only get to help others grow closer to God, but I know that through the work I will be doing at Beyond I will also grow in my own relationship with Christ as I am constantly surrounded by God's beauty and will be intentionally pouring into high school students and surrounded by a community that seeks to glorify God and spread His word.

How are you hoping to grow this summer? This summer I am hoping to grow more into skills of discipleship and working with high schoolers. In the future I hope to work with high schoolers in some capacity either as a teacher or in some form of youth ministry. I know how formative those years were in my own life and how important it was to have people to speak into my life and challenge me in both my faith and my thinking. I hope to help care for and challenge high school students in the same way that I was so that they can grow more and more into the people that God has made them to be. Beyond is an amazing opportunity to both grow and practice these skills. Through this I also hope to grow closer to God myself as I am serving the ministry of His Kingdom and helping others to learn to love Him more.

What expenses are you fundrasing to cover? Beyond Malibu is on a volunteer basis and is not a paid position. All room and board will be covered, but I am responsible to cover the cost of both my flights and for all of the gear that I will need in the summer. This will include multiple flights to and from the PNW for both training weekends and the summer itself. It will also include the cost of multiple pieces of technical mountaineering gear that I do not yet have. Both the flights and the gear will amount a fairly large cost and I would love if you would help partner with me in this to help contribute to the work Beyond Malibu is doing in the Kingdom of God.

Prayer Requests

I would also love if you helped partner with me in prayer as I am prepping for the summer and during the summer itself. Please pray that over this next semester God helps shape me for my ministry at Beyond and that I would be humble and effective servant this semester. Please also pray for the students that come to Beyond that they would either come to know God and the love that He has for them, or that they would continue to grow in their faith and grow to love God more and more.

Every dollar that you give will be matched by Beyond Malibu!
