Red Cross Blood Drive
Shawnee held its annual blood drive on December 19, 2023. Every year, students and staff donate blood and help save lives. Many people signed up this year leaving zero spots open for a walk-in donation. There’s still another chance for you in the future if you did not get to donate this month. There will be another blood drive on March 20 for students and staff to donate again.

Tip-Off Classic
The Shawnee Boys Basketball season was marked by an exhilarating game against Elida where our Shawnee Indians emerged victorious with a close score of 53-49. The gymnasium was filled with lots of school spirit as our athletes showcased their talent and determination on the court. The team contributed to hard-fought points, rebounds and assists that ultimately secured the win. The victory not only gives our season a great start but also serves as a source of inspiration and motivation for the entire school community.

Bold and Better New Year
New year, new you? More like New Year better you, here are some fashion trends that you should be ahead of for the new year. Before we get into what to wear, let's get into what makeup to do. With the release of Saltburn, we're going to be seeing more bold and glittery eye makeup. The colors on this eye look are going to include bright blues, yellows and pinks. We are done with neutrals; it's time to go big or go home and that's going to push us into our next trend. No more dainty necklaces. Let's get into chunky pieces that you can see from a mile away. This is going to elevate any outfit you're wearing because you can wear a plain white shirt with an added chunky accessory and now you're a fashion icon. Lastly, not that I do not love a good almond-shaped nail, but square French tips are coming back. They are a neutral and will match all of your new jewelry and glittery eye makeup and when you have them on you're going to feel like you're on Jersey Shore. This will help you be ahead of the trends.

Oh, Bow!
It's not a big surprise that bows are trending right now, they are cute and feminine. I've seen many TikToks and articles saying that with the New Year, bows will unravel. I have to disagree. I think that bows are just going to keep adding on to more stuff. It started with people just putting ribbons, and now due to a new trend on TikTok people are putting bows on everything, even food! I have been appreciating putting bows in my hair since last spring and I love the traction that it's gaining. No matter how long bows will last I will be wearing them for the rest of my life. They take such a simple outfit and really elevate it. Not to mention how cheap ribbon is so it's a trend everybody can participate in. I say keep the bows tied up!

Wonka Review
How many Willy Wonka movies can we have? Well, it looks like we can have three. Something's different about this new one starring Timothée Chalamet, it's not about the same storyline we've already seen in Johnny Depp's Willy Wonka and Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The 2023 movie follows how Willy Wonka came to be, this includes more information on his parents and where the Oompa Loompas came from. I saw many people were nervous about Chalamet playing this role but I think with all his experience with musical theater he did a fantastic job. The soundtrack is phenomenal thanks to Neil Hannon, King and Farnaby. The movie was constructed beautifully and I would recommend seeing it in theaters as soon as possible.
