bio
I'm originally from the LA area and moved to WA when I was 12. I started violin at the age of 5 and keyboard 13. I was more formally trained on violin. having private lessons and going through the public school music program. I grew up playing classical music but started jazz in high school my junior year on violin. A big influence of mine growing has been Jean Luc Ponty. I first heard his album "A Taste for Passion" at 13 and it changed what I thought was possible on the violin. I enrolled in a program called "running start" where you take college classes and get high school credit too. I took some music theory and jazz choir here, where I sang bass and played violin.
After I got my AA degree in 2004. I transferred to Pacific Lutheran University, where I got a Bachelors of the Musical Arts Degree with Cognate in Communications. Cognate is a minor, that I had to combine with music in my senior project. For my senior project I did a documentary on how to get a career in music. There I studied with the Concert Master of the Tacoma Symphony, violinist Svend Rønning. His teacher studied with Jascha Heifetz. Studying with him completely transformed my playing. Really worked on my weaknesses and breaking my bad habits, that were holding back. I prepared Beethoven Spring Sonata all three movements. Various Bach Sonata's and Partitas and the Bruch Violin Concerto 1st movement. Also performed in the pit orchestra for musicals, Brigadoon and as the fiddler in "The Fiddler on the Roof". Which got good reviews. And my senior year at PLU I was Concert Master.
After school in 2007 I moved to the bay and performed on violin most notably at New Parish in Oakland. I played with the band called The Seshen for a very short spell. Then moved back to WA in 2010 where I dug deep in to learning a music program called Cubase. I started taking recording, producing, composing, mixing and eventually mastering. It's been 11 years and since I started learning Cubase and now I use Nuendo 12, Wavelab 12 Pro.
