Cylchlythyr Ysgol Saltney Ferry

"Cydweithio, gallwn gyd llwyddo."

Another busy week with plenty of goings-on! Our friends performed brilliantly to their school through song and dance in our Eisteddfod. Da iawn chi. Maybe we need to consider the Flintshire Eisteddfod next year based on their performances! Da iawn to all our competing families on the theme this year, what lovely and creative ideas were shared.

Our pupils in Dosbarth Brenig had a fabulous time at Glan Llyn developing their Welsh language, independence and adventure skills! Take a look at our Instagram reel to get a snapshot of what they got up to. Dosbarth Gwynant's turn on Monday!

Fabulous effort from all our friends to support our upcoming BINGO with donations, shared love of reading and celebrating our Welsh culture. Da iawn pawb.

Mwynhau'r penwythnos!

Super week in Dosbarth Alwen & so nice to be outside whilst the suns shining🌞 I was so impressed with the children's performance in the Eisteddfod - bendigedig pawb. This week the children have been introduced to our topic this term "New Life" & we have been reading the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Nursery have been busy acting out the life cycle of a butterfly & created life cycle spinners with their own drawings on it. Reception have wrote shopping lists for the caterpillar using their phonics knowledge which they have all blown me away with and they have continued their addition skills adding fruit! We've turned our home corner in to a fruit shop which has been fantastic to see the children getting in to role and exploring money.

This week in Dosbarth Padarn we have been learning to create our own pictograms about our favourite fruit. We even did a human chart of why fruit we liked. We have also made our own life cycle of the flower and even acted it out.  We have practiced our letter formation and cvc blending. We have enjoyed the sunshine and been having our snack outside. In Udeskole we have learnt about different herbs and planted them and planted our own seeds.  We also have a student teacher started with us this week, Mrs Robertson and she will be with us until May. Croeso i Ysgol Saltney Ferry!

During Udeskole, the children worked together to create animal habitats, thinking carefully about what different animals need in order to survive. They showed great teamwork and creativity while building their habitats outdoors. In maths, we have been learning how to create pictograms and tally charts to collect and organise information. The children enjoyed counting, recording, and interpreting their data. In literacy, we have started looking at the features of non-chronological reports, exploring how information can be organised into headings, facts, and labelled diagrams. For PE, the children took part in a fun challenge where they had to travel while balancing eggs, helping them practise coordination, teamwork, and careful movement.  In Topic, we began planning our own animal habitats, linking this learning to our focus on new life and chicks. The children had some fantastic ideas about what animals need to live and grow. It has been a wonderful week of learning and exploration.

Brenig have had a busy week!! Many of us visited Glan Llyn to work on our Welsh skills, develop our confidence by challenging ourselves to new experiences - rowing on a lake, building a raft and taking a 30ft leap of faith!! Stay tuned over the weekend for more instagram reels, especially how our grown ups Miss Mountford and Mrs Moyden showed such bravery too.

Later in the week we dug into our new BIG question 'What's beneath our feet?' We're looking forward to getting our projects off the ground, but first some field work and sifting through our ideas.

We have had another wonderful week in Dosbarth Gwynant!  Monday's Eisteddfod was fun as always and we loved performing our song to the whole school! Lots of fantastic entries and winners from our class, da iawn🤩 This week, Mrs Hughes and I have been particularly impressed at the children's enthusiasm towards our new book focus, The White Giraffe! It is clear they are all enjoying the story and loving coming up with theories about the plot🦒 We have loved exploring data/fractions on animal populations and game reserves in our maths lessons and have started to interview 'Ranger Dan' for some quotes to include in our upcoming newspaper articles. Excitement is also building for our residential trip to Winmarleigh Hall next week! ... what an exciting half term for Dosbarth Gwynant! 😆
