WHAT?

Thermometers are one of the oldest and most used medical devices to this day. The first modern day design was crafted in 1867, and although it has undergone slight changes, the design hasn't veered from the dull white, boxy, rigid shape that every child knows & fears.

Thermometers measure body temperature and are the first indicators of serious infections. I decided that I wanted to redesign the thermometer to add a little bit of ease, and joy if you will, for a child.

MOOD BOARD

When I began my exploration for inspiration for a joyous design, I prioritized smooth/inviting surfaces, a modern/easy-to-use look and feel, welcoming shapes that incorporate curves and warm/vibrant tones.
