World Teachers Day 2025

Last Friday was World Teacher Day. A big shoutout to all of our teachers who are some of the most caring, highly skilled, super engaged educators around. There are thematic call outs to teachers on this day (that gets a bit overlooked due to the spooky celebrations of Halloween), that include “find your gem teacher” or “hats off to teachers.” As we are in Mullumbimby though, it would be great to show your teacher some LOVE. If one of our teachers has done something great to inspire you or your student, if their feedback on a piece of work hit just right to get the improvement you were looking for, if you are grateful for the work they do or the difference they make, please give a shout out to that teacher by sending the school an email. It is always wonderful to share emails like these with them.

Halloween Fundraiser

Our SRC did a great job raising funds with their Halloween Fundraiser on Friday and students looked frighteningly fabulous in their costumes. After a week of focusing on positive uniform wearing, students took the opportunity to enjoy the mufti day.

Our SRC's Scary Mufti
This week's focus: "In class, on time, ready to learn!"

This week’s focus is “In class, on time, ready to learn”. We will be reminding students to get prepared for the week by looking at student timetables the night before, ensuring that they have the correct gear for classes, using the warning bells to start moving to class rather than to go to the bathroom and fix their hair and/or makeup. Attendance is important and every minute counts to building positive learning experiences. Students who consistently do the right thing will be in the running for the weekly award draw and will be recognised with letters sent home.

Being in class, on time, every time and being ready to learn reflects our core values of respect (for teaching and learning time), responsibility (to get and stay organised) and learning (when we are ready to learn we can engage with content and curriculum faster and more deeply.

Upcoming social media age restrictions

From 10 December 2025, many social media platforms will be required to prevent Australians under 16 from creating or maintaining accounts on certain age-restricted services. The changes aim to protect children from pressures and risks they can be exposed to while logged in to social media accounts.

The eSafety Commissioner is leading the implementation of the law. They are responsible for identifying platforms and supporting the community with information and resources.

Under-16s will still be able to see publicly available social media content that doesn’t require logging into an account. There are no penalties for young people who use age-restricted platforms or for their parents and carers as the responsibility is with the platforms.

We encourage you to access eSafety’s resources and support for families on their website and register for one of the upcoming webinars.

Have a fabulous week 4!
