Flo Hyman Awards Banquet

Thursday, February 5th, 2026 at 5pm in the Larry K. Durham Hall of Champions

The Flo Hyman Award Banquet celebrates and honors young women in El Paso who exemplify excellence in athletics, academics, leadership, and community impact. Hosted by UTEP Athletics, the award recognizes three outstanding recipients — one each from the elementary, middle, and high school levels — whose achievements reflect both competitive success and character-driven leadership. This event is in its 26th year. More than an award presentation, the evening serves as a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of opportunity in sport. Recipients are also recognized during halftime of a UTEP Women’s Basketball game, highlighting their accomplishments in front of the Miner community and reinforcing the importance of visibility for girls and women in athletics. Named in honor of Olympic volleyball player Flo Hyman, a passionate advocate for gender equity in sports, the award carries forward her legacy of leadership and access. Hyman’s commitment to advancing opportunities for women in athletics continues to inspire the next generation of leaders both on and off the playing surface.
