🚗 Coding With Sphero Indi!

The children had an exciting chance to use their data and computational thinking skills with our Sphero Indi robot cars. They experimented with coding routes, making the robots change direction, create different shapes, and follow colourful paths. The highlight of the session was when we discovered how to make the Indi cars spin and dance! The children worked brilliantly together, testing ideas, fixing mistakes, and celebrating each successful move. A fantastic mix of creativity, problem‑solving, and fun!

📘 Exploring Languages with Immersive Reader!

Today we used the wonderful Immersive Reader tool to help us learn more about our Stone Age topic. The children were amazed to see the text instantly translated into languages they know, including Chinese, Welsh, Polish, and Malayalam. It was a brilliant way to help everyone understand the information and enjoy learning together. A fantastic digital skills moment!

This activity supported our Progression Step 2 learning by helping pupils explore information independently, use digital tools to understand texts more clearly, and access content in languages familiar to them. A wonderful mix of curiosity, inclusion, and digital skills!

🐦 Big Garden Birdwatch 2026

Year 3 headed outside for a brilliant birdwatching session this week. Armed with clipboards and tally sheets, the children carefully observed the playground and field to spot as many different birds as they could. They worked beautifully in pairs to collect real data, using tally marks to keep track of what they found.

This activity supported our Progression Step 2 learning by helping pupils gather first-hand data, record it using tally charts, and describe what the results showed. A wonderful mix of outdoor learning, maths, and curiosity!

Science investigation : 🥪 Which Foods Are the Fattiest?

🏴‍☠️ Pirate Problem Solvers!

Using the “Treasure Hunt” puzzle, the children helped pirates Jed and Jake work out all the possible ways they could share a ruby, a diamond, and an emerald. Lots of logical thinking — and lots of fun!

🚶‍♂️💡 Stepping Through Times Tables!

The children enjoyed an outdoor maths challenge where each cone held a multiplication question. They worked their way along the trail, solving answers out loud and showing great confidence with their times tables.

🎲 Exploring Emotions Through Play!

Our class played an emotions board game where we rolled the dice, landed on a feeling, and shared a time we experienced it. A fun way to build confidence and emotional awareness!

Gweddiwn - Our Class Worship

Our Trip to Vale Clydach Refinery: Today (11th November) we had a fantastic trip to the Vale Clydach Refinery! We started with a quiz in the Mond Museum, then listened to John White, a local expert, who shared interesting facts about the factory and its founder, Ludwig Mond. We tried on work clothes and masks, enjoyed snacks, and saw how a defibrillator can save a life. Before leaving, we gave Liz a card to say thank you. It was a fun and exciting afternoon full of learning!
