PRINCIPAL'S DESK

Dear Bluejay Family, I hope your Mardi Gras break was filled with rest, joy, and meaningful time together. As we close out the celebrations and return to school tomorrow, we do so with grateful hearts and renewed focus. Today, the Church celebrates the First Sunday of Lent, and we hear the Gospel from Matthew 4:1–11 — the story of Jesus being tempted in the desert. Before beginning His public ministry, Jesus spent forty days in prayer and fasting. In the quiet of the desert, He chose trust in His Father over comfort, power, and pride. What a beautiful invitation this is for all of us. Lent is our “desert time” — not a season of gloom, but a season of growth. It is an opportunity for our Bluejays to strengthen their prayer lives, practice small sacrifices with joyful hearts, and look for ways to serve others. In these forty days, we teach our children that discipline builds character, prayer builds relationship, and sacrifice makes room for grace. Just as Jesus did in the desert, we want our students to recognize their strength comes from God. Thank you for partnering with us in forming hearts of faith and resilience. We are so grateful to welcome our Bluejays back tomorrow, ready to grow together this Lenten season. Let us begin again — with courage, commitment, and Christ at the center. Grace & Peace, Erin B. ANNOUNCEMENTS

Faculty Transitions & Looking Ahead with Gratitude

As we look ahead to the 2026–2027 school year, we want to share some important faculty updates with our Bluejay family before positions are posted. At the end of this school year, we will celebrate the retirements of Mrs. Sean Matt (First Grade Aide), Mrs. Dawn Gary (Religion Assistant), Mrs. Dina Capritto (PE Teacher), and Mrs. Mary Attales (First Grade). Each of these women has given years of faithful service to St. Cecilia, shaping our students academically, spiritually, and physically. Their impact on generations of Bluejays is lasting, and we look forward to honoring them well in the months ahead. Mrs. Payton Tobey will be accepting a full-time position at another school next year. We are grateful for her leadership of our athletic programs and wish her every success. Mrs. Katie Williamson has prayerfully discerned stepping away from the classroom to focus on her family. We thank her for four wonderful years in third grade and celebrate this special season for her family. Transitions are a natural part of school life — especially in a year when we are blessed to be growing. We are already actively hiring and have secured some strong additions for next year, with more updates to come soon. St. Cecilia remains a place of stability, faith, and excellence, and we are confident in the team God is building for our students. Though goodbyes are never easy, we are deeply grateful for the dedication and love these educators have shared with our Bluejay community.

Sunday Planning Meetings with your child

We have an active 5 weeks before we break again. Please make a strong effort to sit down with your child and make an action plan/"game plan" for the week with their academic needs and requirements. It may not always go according to plan or look perfect, but having it in the planner and discussing when you will complete homework and review for assessments are important for their success. We want to form them for independence, while still giving them the tools and guidance on how to plan ahead!

Make up work with absences

With various reasons for absences, it is important that there is communication with your child's teacher(s) on their absences and what needs to be made up. We implemented the "M" in the gradebook this year to assist with noting the missing assignments. Thank you for your partnership to help keep our students on track!

Quarter 3 Ends March 13

Quarter 3 AR points and Service Hours are due March 10.
