ITA WHEELCHAIR ROOKIE OF THE YEAR CATE EVANS | UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN

ITA Rookie of the Year

Cate Evans, a freshman at the University of Michigan began both her collegiate and tennis career at the start of the academic year.

Cate traveled with the team to the University of Alabama for an invitational, as well as two USTA tournaments, the GLASA and the Cajun. Cate also contributed to a home win against Michigan State at the Wolverine Invitational winning both singles and doubles matches.

Outside of the on-court performances, Cate has demonstrated great leadership on the team as a Freshman. She often assists teammates with their equipment before practice, being supportive of teammates while at tournaments, and ensures all teammates feel supported and welcomed on the team.

During matches, Cate treats all of her opponents with the utmost respect. Win or lose, she treats all competitors with kindness and is a true treasure to the nature of the sport.

A Quote From The Head Coach

"Cate, a high-level sled hockey player, joined our team in the Fall and quickly became a valuable player on the squad. She can play with anyone and add to the on-court dynamic whether it's leveling up the play or on-court vibes. Cate is often the first player on the court grabbing chairs for her teammates before practice. I am super proud of her development and thrilled to have her for 3 more years!" - Christopher Kelley, Head Coach
