why do i need a media day?
Media days are the perfect opportunity to give your athletes a college like experience while they are still in high school. The professional equipment used during a Smooth Wave Media Day, rivals that of colleges. Additionally, you will get all the digital assets you need to give your team a professional look on social media.
Where can the media day be hosted?
The most central location for most if not all people would be the school gym. If that is not available, a place with higher ceilings would be best to accommodate the equipment.
what comes with a media day?
Smooth Wave Media Days are a three to four hour experience where your athletes will have the freedom to express themselves through photos and videos. We will deliver a minimum of 10 photos per athlete, comprised of a minimum of two backdrops. Athletes are encouraged to look up their favorite poses and bring props to use for the day. These photos can be printed and put in frames, used on buttons or even make a FATHEAD out of them. Ultimately, they are yours to show off and a memory to cherish for life.
What backdrops can I chose from?

- Black Backdrop
- Colored Backdrop (please reach out with the color you want, it may have to be purchased before the media day)
- Blank Backdrop (best if in a gym)
- Light Bars (with or without smoke)
What is a digital asset and how do I use it?
A digital asset is the individual photo or video elements that Smooth Wave delivers from a media day. The goal of the digital assets is to provide schools with elements that, when combined with graphic work, can produce a quality product to highlight the athletes and the program. As part of a Smooth Wave Media Day, you will have access to a Photoshop (psd.) file that can be edited to fit your school. If there is not someone within the school that is proficient in Photoshop, Canva offers free and paid templates that are excellent. The goal is a college feel at the high school level to highlight the best part of your program - the athletes. Below are examples of what it looks like to use a digital asset combined with graphics to produce a high quality product.
How much does a Smooth Wave Media Day cost?
Prices may vary depending on the size of a team but a typical 10-15 person team runs at $2,500

- How long will it take to get digital assets? A few days after the media day, we will provide a sneak peak. The full gallery of digital assets will be available 2-3 weeks after the media day.
- Can I pay in installments? Yes. Deposit will be due on or before the media day but a payment plan after that can be worked out. NOTE: All deliverables will be held until the payment plan is completed.
- How many backdrops can we do in one media day? 2.
- Can I do an individual media day rather than a team? Yes. This is available upon request and pricing will vary.
- Can parents have access to, download and print photos of their kids? Yes.
- Do I need to sign a waiver? Yes. The waiver will allow me to photograph the athletes and allow me to use photos for Smooth Wave's marketing purposes.
