Embracing Bilingualism at HSI - UAZ Bilingual Initiatives symposium 2024

This one-day symposium seeks to foster conversations on bilingualism (English / Spanish) across the University of Arizona within the Hispanic-Serving Institution and Borderlands contexts. We'd like to invite you to participate by presenting your projects/initiatives and/or work-in-progress, and by attending and connecting with potential collaborators/stakeholders across campus.

Bilingual Initiatives Symposium 2024's Organizer

Jhonatan Henao-Muñoz is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the W.A. Franke Honors College and a member of the UNIV Core Faculty in the Office of General Education. They also serve as a UAZ Hispanic-Serving Institution Ambassador and they are the Faculty in Residence at the Guerrero Student Center of the University of Arizona.

Faculty Collaborators

Dra. Nadia Álvarez Mexía is an Assistant Professor of Practice and the Assistant Director of Learning Development and Community Involvement in the W.A. Franke Honors College. She is one of the UAZ Hispanic Serving Institution Fellows 2018-2019 and Academic Leadership Institute Fellows 2020-2021 at the University of Arizona.

Dr. Matthew Austin is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the W.A. Franke Honors College and a member of the UNIV Core Faculty in the Office of General Education. He participated in the Culturally Responsive Culturally Responsive Curriculum Development Institute (CRCDI) during the Summer of 2023.
