Welcome back to all our friends, families and community. We have had a lovely start to the new academic year and it has been a pleasure to see our happy, smiling children settle into their new classes.
PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME
Dear Parents and Families,
Welcome back, we are all delighted to be back at school! Teachers, staff and children have all had a fantastic start to the academic year 2024-25. I would like to welcome all our new families and staff to be part of our amazing team. We continue to develop our links with the community and encourage all families to reach out if they need any support. We look forward to another fantastic year of growth, learning and enjoyment.
Stanley Head-Yr6 Residential
Year 6 had a fantastic time on their five day residential to Stanley Head. The reports from school and Stanley Head staff were that all our children represented the school in an exemplary manner and showed our CCR values. Many children overcame a number of fears and showed great independence in their first time staying away from home.
The children enjoyed many exciting activities such as canoeing, bouldering and the high ropes! Well done Mr Bridge for overcoming your fear of heights.
A special thanks goes to Mrs Jones, Mr Bridge and Mr Mothershaw-Hall, who gave up their own time to stay and ensure the safety of our children.
School Community Development Officer
We want to continue to build links with the community and our families. Miss Hulme has been given the responsibility of School Community Development Officer. In her role, she will offer a range of support to families from uniform to wider external agency signposting. Miss Hulme will work closely with Mrs Jones to extend our family support offer.
We continue to offer food support every morning and our Blessings Cupboard is stocked to support our families. Please do not hesitate to ask Miss Hulme any questions about support.
Library Visits!
Reading is the key to unlocking the whole curriculum! To promote a love of reading all year groups will visit Longton Library. Please ask your child about their visits and any new books they have discovered.
To stay up to date with your child's library visit please check ClassDojo for further information.
Extra-Curricular Clubs
We have a wide range of extra-curricular clubs. To book these clubs please use the Arbor parent app. If you do not have access please contact the main school office.
Clubs range from football, multi-sports to AM Reading clubs. We aim to accommodate for all children and their passions.
ATTENDANCE
We continue on our journey to reach a whole school attendance target of 96%. I would like to say a huge thank you to the families who are working with us to ensure the children attend school as much as possible. For the new updates to attendance please see updated guidance shared on ClassDojo and the school website:
Could I remind you that any requests for leave in school time need to be made by completing a request form from the school office. However, completing the form does not mean authorisation and we discourage any absence during the school term due to the impact on learning and progress. If you have any questions about attendance please contact the main school office to arrange a meeting with Miss Crawley.
There are a lot of colds and bugs around as we move into Winter - please send your child to school and if they are unwell we will contact you for collection. Miss Crawley will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
MESSAGE FROM REV. ANGELA BRYAN
Hello and welcome to a new school year at Belgrave St. Bartholomew’s Academy, from all of us in Blurton & Dresden Church of England Parish. .
Harvest in the Park! Sunday 29th September- 2pm- Please come and join us to celebrate harvest and prayer at Longton Park. There will be a range of activities for all ages.
I am here to support and encourage the children and staff in this journey, and the church family get involved with the school wherever we can. It is an exciting time with the launch of the new school vision and values, and the key story of the Good Samaritan to explore and allow it to shape us as a community. Please say hello if you see me around the school, as I love being part of the team here at Belgrave!
GOVERNORS
We would like to introduce all our parents to our supportive friends and governors. Matthew Cliffe will continue in his role as Chair of Governors for the academic year. For a full list of governors and roles please click the link below:
READING
Reading is vitally important in ensuring your child can access the whole curriculum. Reading at home is a key component in embedding reading fluency and understanding. Thank you to all parents that consistently support their child with home reading. Mrs Jones has asked that all reading is logged on Boom Reader by Sunday nights to ensure your child is part of the whole school reward at the end of term. Please aim to read at least 3 times a week with your child. Research has proven that reading at an early age has a direct impact on academic attainment.
TIME4SPORT
The team at Time4Sport have passed on a thank you to all the children who attended their Summer clubs. The children were enthusiastic and represented the school in an exemplary manner. Well done children!
Please keep an eye out for any future clubs in the holidays.
UNIFORM
A reminder of the expectations for uniform and PE kit. We have noticed a wide array of PE kits, please make an effort to ensure you child’s PE kit meets the expected standard. The uniform expectations can be found on the link to our website below:
For further information please contact School’s In on 01782 310111 or visit https://www.schoolsinuniform.co.uk.
WEBSITE UPDATES
Mr Jones continually updates the website with key information for all our parents and carers. This includes curriculum updates and class pages. Lots of your questions can be answered on our comprehensive website.
Other ways to stay updated include Dojo, X (formerly known as Twitter), YouTube and Facebook - give us a follow! Links can be found at the bottom of this page.
MESSAGE FOR PARENTS
Please ensure that your child/children are not using the play equipment at the end of the day. We have seen some children climbing on goal posts and climbing frames, putting them at risk of harm. The children are parents responsibility once they leave class teachers at the end of the day.
PRAYER CORNER
A prayer for us all:
Dear Lord,
We thank you for the new academic year. This year holds endless opportunities for us all. Help us support each other in growth and commitment to love. Help us love each other as we love ourselves. Help us show our values of Courage, Compassion and Respect in everything we do.
Amen.
