What an incredible week it has been at KC Prep! From the vibrant joy of our very first Colour Run to the energy and determination on display during our Sports Day and the pride we shared at Prizegiving – it's been a celebration of effort, achievement and community. A huge thank you to all the families who joined us; your support and encouragement made the events even more special.
We also want to congratulate our talented students who took their LAMDA exams this week – we are so proud of your hard work and dedication.
Next week we look forward to a week filled with enrichment activities, the last Privilege Lunch and our very special Year 6 Leavers Assembly when we wish our Year 6 pupils farewell and good luck on their new adventure!
What happened in School this week?
Colour Run 2025
This week saw our very first Kent College Colour Run – and what a vibrant success it was! Thank you for joining in the fun and making this day such a brilliant success. Mrs Hughes
Pupils from Reception to Sixth Form embraced the fun as they ran, walked and danced their way through clouds of colourful powder. With laughter, energy and bright smiles all around, it was a joyful celebration of community and school spirit – all whilst raising money for our school charities.
Forest Explorers
Ready, Steady, Go!
We had a fantastic time at our Sports Day, and it was wonderful to see so many Mummies, Daddies, Nanas, Grandads, Aunties and more cheering us on! The children took part in a variety of events, including obstacle races, sprints, novelty races and relays — all with great enthusiasm and team spirit. Afterwards, families gathered on the lawn to enjoy a delightful picnic filled with delicious food and tasty treats. Thank you for joining us for this Year's event!
Reception
At the end of last week, three of the butterflies had come out of their cocoons and were flying around the butterfly garden. On Monday afternoon it was time to say goodbye and the children were both happy and sad to watch them fly away. What an amazing journey our tiny caterpillars have been on over the past few weeks!
We have also been making our own minibeast this week. Each of the children designed and created their chosen minibeast!
Year 1
Year 1 newsletter We have really enjoyed both our class book, Leo and the Octopus, and our Topic of Under the Sea this term! We have done lots of research about octopuses and found out some incredible facts; they have blue blood, they can squeeze into tiny spaces, they are very good at puzzles and they have nine brains! One is their main brain and one is for each arm. We have written facts sheets, as well as creating our own funky octopuses for our display, using collaging techniques.
Year 2
This week, Year 2 have been exploring positioning and direction in Maths, putting their learning into action through a fun practical game and by programming the Bee-Bots. In Swimming, they had great fun playing water polo, and excitement is building as they prepare for KC’s Got Talent in the last week of term! The week ended with a splash of colour and laughter as they took part in our first-ever Colour Run—finishing the day joyfully covered in paint!
Year 3
In DT Year 3 have been enjoying the cross curricular opportunity to make clay poppies. Year 3 learnt as part of their WWII topic that poppies are a symbol to commemorate those who die in war. They enjoyed the messy but careful process of cutting leaf shapes and then moulding them together with water. Once they had air dried they were painted in traditional poppy colours.
Year 4
The penultimate week of the academic year brought incredibly high temperatures, but that hasn't slowed down Year 4! This week in English the children have read 'The Great Kapok Tree' written and illustrated by Lynne Cherry. Linking into their work on the Brazilian Rainforest, they wrote about some of the creatures that are used to highlight the destruction of this habitat. In maths the class have studied quadrilaterals and polygons as well as keeping their times tables up to speed. All this AND French, thinking about comparisons between Brazil and England, swimming, practising for sports day, doing a colour run and rehearsing for a fabulous speech day! What superstars they all are.
Year 5
Full of confidence, Year 5 have climbed, sung and explored their way through the penultimate week. The last two days have to be the highlight as they have been full of colour and companionship, pride and team work. The class showed huge resilience during the colour run and strongly supported each of their house this afternoon.
Year 6
As we approach the penultimate week of the school year, Year 6 class has been bustling with activity and excitement. Many of our students have been out for inductions at their new schools, but that hasn't slowed us down! We've been diving deeper into the timeless tale of Romeo and Juliet, exploring the intricacies of pie charts and calculating averages in maths. In science, we've marvelled at the wonders of shadows and rainbows. We've also had a blast participating in the Colour Run, celebrating success at Prize Giving and topped it all off with an exhilarating Sports Day!
