Head Girl Team and School Officers' Handover

On Thursday, it was time to say goodbye to our reigning Head Girl and School Officer Teams and welcome in our new cohort.

We wish our new Leadership Team the best of luck in their new roles and look forward to all the exciting projects they have already started working on. We also wish our outgoing School Officers the very best of luck in their A Levels and in their new chapters after KC.

Exam Period Begins

This week, Year 10 finished their exams. This was their first experience of sitting formal assessments under exam conditions and they coped very well.

GCSE and A Level exams have also started this week. Students completed orals in Chinese and Spanish, along with Drama Practical and Art exams at GCSE, and Textiles, Art, and Spanish and French orals for A Level students.

We wish all of our students the best of luck over the coming months with their examinations.

Boarders' Bluebell Walk

Our boarders went for a lovely walk around our woodlands over the weekend with Chaplain Katie, and enjoyed seeing the bluebells which are in abundance in our grounds. They even stopped for a friendly hello with our neighbouring alpacas!

Year 9 English

Over the past few weeks, Year 9 students have been introduced to Film Studies in their English lessons. The ‘Adapting Shakespeare for Screen’ unit encourages students to reflect on the considerations filmmakers need to make when transforming a play text into a film.

Students enjoyed being able to go outside and capture images to exemplify different shot types and camera angles when studying cinematography. They also produced some fantastic pieces of written work, analysing how the opening sequence of a film adaptation of Romeo and Juliet captures the audience’s interest.

Year 7 Drama

Year 7 have done a brilliant job this week in creating "ghost hunting devices". This is to support their current Drama scheme of work, 'Darkwood Manor'.

The students are currently taking on roles as detectives and investigating the mysterious story behind an old manor house, which holds many secrets.

A special mention goes to Marja, Eve, Aliha and Hettie, who produced some highly creative devices.

Bronze D of E Award

On Monday, Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award students hosted a tea room at St Peter's Old Church for the community. The girls did a fantastic job serving everyone refreshments.

This was part of the students' Volunteering requirements. They need to do three months of weekly volunteering before they can pass this part of the assessment, which sits alongside the other components, which are Physical, Skills and the two day, one night Expedition.

Additionally, ahead of their upcoming Expedition, students got to grips with the Trangia gas stoves that they will be using to cook their campsite meals.

Carnival of the Animals

There are a few remaining tickets for the 6pm performance on Wednesday 1st May. Book tickets online now!
