As you walk into the landscape of the Community Market at The Sound, you are welcomed by the cool breeze of air and radiant people bursting with life at the market. The Community Market at The Sound is a popular site in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, held every last Friday of the month. It is an opportunity to interact with various people and experience different products and unique creations that you do not see in classic supermarkets.

Eric Michael, a 40-year old man, represents the business Sunmed. Although the market had several family owned and personal businesses, some sellers represented larger corporations. Michael sells CBD wellness products. Michael has attended The Sound’s market for the past six months.

“The market is a great way to reach various types of people and meet all kinds of different people,” Michael said. “It's more local, made of mom and pop businesses. I think the main takeaway from the market is not the items but the community and the people in it”.

William Coulston owns a family business of cake pops operated with his wife. Coulston, at 54 years old, has been taking his love for cake pops to the market for six months.

“The farmer’s market helps the community a lot,” Coulson said. “Sure, you could go to a Walmart or Target and just get the processed food there, but, here, everything is all homemade, fresh and prepared with love, which is an experience that you won’t get from one of those big corporate stores.”

A vendor also catching everyone’s eyes is Baked by Vero, a business owned by 24-year old Veronica Ritz. Ritz sells homemade bread and desserts. She has attended the market for about five months.

“It’s a great way to display or showcase our talents to the community,” Ritz said. “I think it really gives an opportunity for creativity to make its way into the community and to bring people together.”
