Next Monday, Aug. 26, the Fall Semester 2024 begins! We’re eager to welcome back our new and returning students and faculty!

  • For those new to campus, this is The TAMIU Trailblazer, a weekly electronic news bulletin distributed every Monday throughout the University community. We aim to provide quick insight (about what’s happening at TAMIU and how we can all engage in the life of the University. Every week we’ll share important news about deadlines, events, and initiatives that impact our TAMIU community and beyond.
  • This week, we’re launching SafeZone, a free app-based safety, communications, emergency management, and wellbeing service that replaces our DustyALRT. Find out more below and here.
  • We’re also sharing news about the Dusty Promise, which has delivered $26.7 million in free aid to TAMIU students.
  • Prior to our Fall Semester start, we’re welcoming new and returning faculty at our Faculty and Professional Staff Assembly this Wednesday.

TAMIU’s Dusty Promise to Students has Delivered $26.7M in Free Aid

Since 2008, TAMIU’s Dusty Promise has helped students receive over $26.7 million in free aid to attend TAMIU.

“Through the Dusty Promise, we pledged to provide enough scholarships and grants to pay tuition and mandatory fees for all eligible students. Today’s Dusty Promise has been expanded to families whose income is up to $100,000, enabling us to assist a greater number of students and their families…and so, our Dusty Promise is worth exploration.”

Eligible and qualified students for the Dusty Promise are:

  • Texas residents with an adjusted gross income of $100,000 or less
  • First Time Freshman or new Transfer Student admitted by March 15
  • Financial Aid application (FAFSA or TASFA) submitted by March 15.

Payment Deadline Nears for Fall 2024 Semester

Tuition and Fees for Fall & Sub-Term I 2024 are due Friday, Aug. 23, 2024 (without a late fee).

Online payments can be processed via Uconnect:

  1. Log in to Uconnect
  2. Click on “My Records”
  3. Select “Pay My Bill”
  4. Click on the blue “Pay Now” button. You will be redirected to the Student Account Suite and will not require a PIN.

Join us for a full week of exciting events to welcome our new and returning students to TAMIU. All activities are free and open to currently enrolled University students.

TAMIU Enhances Campus Safety Measures with SafeZone Security Solution This Fall

TAMIU is launching SafeZone, a unified and free app-based safety, communications, emergency management, and wellbeing service. The free SafeZone App at TAMIU launches Monday, Aug. 19 and replaces the University’s DustyALRT. It is available for free download from the dedicated TAMIU SafeZone website at go.tamiu.edu/updsafezone.

  • Students, faculty, and staff will receive University emergency push notifications via the SafeZone App. They will need to download, install, and sign in.
  • Notifications sent via SafeZone will be shared on the University’s website, digital signage, select official social media, and public campus desktops.
  • Email notifications will be sent to official TAMIU email addresses from safezone@tamiu.edu
  • Text notifications will only be sent to those providing a cell phone number on the App, and who have not opted out of SMS.

El Metro to sell U-Pass Bus Passes Monday, Aug. 26

Students enrolled this Fall 2024 can visit with El Metro represenatives to purchase a bus pass this Monday, Aug. 26 the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center.
