Welcome to Villa Alba Coffee Specialty Costa Rica Coffee

Welcome to our Specialty Coffee from Costa Rica!

Costa Rica is known for producing some of the world's finest specialty coffees, grown in regions above 1200 meters above sea level. These coffees are often referred to as SHB (strictly hard bean) and are grown on small farms that practice sustainable farming practices.

Costa Rican specialty coffee is 100% Arabica and is carefully handpicked at its peak ripeness, ensuring that only the best coffee cherries are used. The coffee is then carefully washed and sun-dried, creating a flavorful and smooth coffee that is highly sought after by coffee enthusiasts around the world.

The best cherries

One of the reasons that Costa Rican coffee is so highly regarded is due to the unique growing conditions of the region. The rich volcanic soil, ample rainfall, and ideal altitude provide the perfect environment for coffee plants to thrive. The result is a coffee with a bright acidity, balanced sweetness, and a clean finish.

In addition to the exceptional quality of the coffee, Costa Rica also has a long history of sustainable farming practices. Many of the small farms that produce specialty coffee use eco-friendly farming methods, such as shade-grown coffee, which provides habitat for local wildlife and protects the environment. Additionally, many farms use organic farming practices, which help to preserve the soil and reduce the use of harmful chemicals.

Purchasing Costa Rican specialty coffee not only supports sustainable farming practices, but it also helps to support the local economy. Many of the small farms that produce specialty coffee are family-owned and operated, and purchasing their coffee helps to support their livelihoods and the local community.

Coffea Arabica

I am thrilled to share with you the story of our exceptional Costa Rican coffee. My name is Jimmy Alvarado Garcia, and I come from Costa Rica, where our coffee is grown above 1200 meters above sea level, making it some of the best coffee in the world. We call it SHB or strictly hard bean, and it's grown on all the farms we work with.

When you enjoy our coffee, you can rest assured that you're getting 100% Arabica and 100% SHB, which means it's not only delicious, but it's also gentle on your stomach. Plus, your purchase will support many families and promote sustainable farming practices, eventually leading to organic farming and benefiting the entire community.

My family lives in a breathtaking area surrounded by the largest national park in Central America, "La Amistad" International Park. It's a place that has been shaped by the hand of God, full of nature, and home to our indigenous people for generations. My father-in-law, Roger Villalobos Jimenez, came to this place over 46 years ago and began a journey full of adventure, settling with his wife, Nelly Perez Venegas. They raised their five children there, and today, my wife, Kathya Villalobos Pérez, and I are fortunate enough to call it home.

Roger Villalobos "Grandpa"

Our coffee plantation, located on a farm called "La Neblina," was almost 1600 meters above sea level, where we grow almost 12 hectares of coffee surrounded by a beautiful forest of oak trees. We use only 10% of the farm for coffee, and the rest is protected to ensure its long-term sustainability. In addition to coffee, we also grow avocados and raise rainbow trout in 20% of the farm.

Our desire to grow as a couple and help others has led us to seek ways to assist marginalized communities in Costa Rica. Seeing the situation of many families, we knew we had to do something.

By purchasing our coffee, you can help us make a positive impact and sustainably support local farmers and their families.

Thank you for considering our Costa Rican coffee, and we look forward to sharing its unique flavor with you!

Best regards,

Jimmy Alvarado Garcia
