FROM THE PRESIDENT:

This year marked the 60th anniversary of GMGMA.

As I think about the significance of 60 years, it really brings forth all the pivotal changes our members have experienced during this time, especially for the private physician practice. We have seen the rise and fall of PHO’s, consolidation and deconsolidation of physician practices, the creation of managed care, the height of capitation, PQRS, Meaningful Use, the advancement of technology with claims processing from magnetic tape, paper, direct dial electronic sending, to advanced PM systems, claims clearing houses with digital data transfer files; to the implementation of EHR, QPP, and then some. Our focus changed from having 1-2 compliance manuals (OSHA and basic billing) to a library of compliance material, maneuvering around cyber security and facility security for our patients and staff, and unfortunately how to remain an independent practice with the emergence large healthcare systems and private equity. Through all this change, one thing has remained constant and that is GMGMA and its members, helping practice managers excel and grow in their careers through both educational opportunities but more importantly through personal networking and mentorship.

On behalf of the GMGMA Board, I want to thank you all for your continued support, membership, and dedication to the business of medicine. I look forward to seeing both long term members, new members, and potential members at the Fall Forum.

Kelly Ladd, FACMPE, GMGMA President 2025-2026
