WSOP Prepares For 10,000 But Facing Poker Rooms, US Faces Online Satellite Restrictions

The Poker World Series will be ready for more than 10,000 people to participate in this year's main event, but Commissioner Jeffrey Pollock declined to predict whether the event would set another record.

"We're always planning for a better tournament than the previous year," Pollock said on a conference call. "We're hoping it means something bigger, but it might not always mean something bigger. And that's fine."

Many poker experts predicted that WSOP participation would decline after Harra announced that she would no longer accept third-party registration accepting bets from American players in internet poker rooms.

However, these restrictions have not deterred multiple sites that allow U.S. theaters to operate unauthorized WSOP satellites.

"We have not finalized the details of how we will recruit players to the WSOP," reads the answer to the question on PokerStars.com 's FAQ page. "We will let you know as soon as we know the details. In the meantime, we can reassure you that if you win one of our satellites, you can sit down for the major WSOP event of 2007."

Pollack indicated that while operating unauthorized satellites, sites will not support Harrah and the WSOP. Sites that ignore Hara's demand to stop violating the WSOP trademark will not be allowed to advertise on their sportswear. 홀짝게임

"We've started training our trademarks on dotcom sites and we're helping people understand how they're infringing on our trademarks and we're letting them stop," Pollock said. "So anyone who infringes on our trademarks will have to find other clothes to wear before they play in tournaments."
