AN EVENING TO CELEBRATE MOVEMENTS FOR JUSTICE IN CHICAGO!!
2026 AWARDEES
This year, we present the Ron Sable Award for Activism to Obama Community Benefits Agreement Coalition (CBA) who have been organizing to ensure the Obama Presidential Center strengthens South Side communities and protects local jobs, affordable housing, Black businesses, and schools. The Donald F. Erickson Synapses Award to the First Defense Legal Aid, mobilizing lawyers and over-policed community members to fill gaps in public defense through a 24/7 hotline, as well as education, legal aid, and advocacy to protect people detained by police. The Lynda J. Tipton Memorial Award for Social Justice to The TRiiBE, an award-winning digital publication and production company dedicated to shedding light on racism and systemic harms, while uplifting the beauty of Black resistance, creativity, and art.
