Men's Squash Takes Down Rivals Bates and Bowdoin
For the first time in over 20 years the Colby Men’s Squash team defeated Bates College, a 9-0 sweep in their final home match of the season. Of the nine wins, eight of those matchups concluded in 3-0 victories. The women's team came up just short falling to the Bobcats 5-4 with hard fought wins coming from Andrea Lee, Abhisheka David, Aileen Dominguez and Juliette Love.
On the road in Brunswick on Saturday, the men swept the CBB and their fourth straight victory topping the Polar Bears 7-2. Victories in the match came from Inwoo Lee, Seif Ashraf, Jonathan Sosa, Youssef Mostafa, Sen Subramaniam, Carlos Zendejas and Avery Rosenburg. The women's team again came up just short 6-3 with victories from Lee, David and Dominguez in the top three spots. .
#14 (9-3) Men’s Squash and #19 (3-7) Women’s Squash will wrap up their regular seasons this weekend in a three game road trip with Haverford up first on Friday.
Women's Basketball Secures Victory over Conn. College
In their lone match of the week, the Mules hosted the Camels of Conn. College, securing their second conference win by a final score of 66-57.
The first two quarters were defense heavy for both teams as the Mules kept the Conn. shooting at bay (the Camels were 0-6 from three and 7-32 overall from the field). In the third quarter Colby started to pull ahead, building on their eight point halftime lead for a 48-29 score going into the final frame. Although the Camels had their best scoring quarter in the fourth it was not enough to threaten Colby's lead.
Lydia Mordarski led the charge netting 15 points along with three steals followed by Kate Olenik with 11 points and Ana Von Rumohr with 10. Amelia Hanscom played great inside totaling 14 rebounds.
The 10-9 Mules (2-4 NESCAC record, good for 8th) will now go on the road to faceoff against Tufts Friday and Bates Saturday.
Swimming & Diving Takes Care of Wesleyan in Middletown
Against the Cardinals Saturday afternoon, Colby's Swimming & Diving teams came away with victories placing both of their overall records at 5-2 on the season. The men won 182-98 and women dominated in similar fashion 178-120.

Men's Ice Hockey Tops USM, Falls to Bowdoin
With a victory over Southern Maine Tuesday and a setback in Brunswick against the Polar Bears Saturday, Colby earned a split on the week.
Welcoming the USM Huskies early in the week to close our their non-conference schedule, Colby used goals from three different scorers to move to 4-2-0 in non-conference games this season. Derek Hessinger opened the scoring halfway through the first period and Griffin Grise tallied the eventual game-winner early in the second. Clay Korpi netted his first of the season to put the game out of reach with seconds remaining in the third. Colby has outscored the Huskies 13-5 in the last four meetings.
In a rematch of the early season draw in December, the Mules traveled to Brunswick Saturday to face a hot Polar Bear team that is ranked second in the NESCAC. Bowdoin scored three times in the first period and added another in the second before Grise earned one back for Colby. The tally came with only minutes left to play and with an empty netter tacked on, Bowdoin earned their first victory over the Mules in Brunswick since 2015.
The Mules are now 6-9-3 and rank 8th in the NESCAC. This coming weekend they host Hamilton and Amherst, the 4th and 5th-ranked clubs in the conference respectively.
Women's Ice Hockey Faces Off With Tough Trinity Squad
The Colby Women's Ice Hockey team welcomed Plymouth State Tuesday to close out non-conference play, taking down the Panthers 8-0 to move to 8-0-0 on the season against non-NESCAC opponents. Following up on a 9-0 victory against PSU earlier in the season, seven different Mules tallied scores led by Lily Wisniewski who netted a pair. Mandy Busky earned the shutout in net.
Over the weekend the NESCAC calendar took Colby to Hartford to face off against #13 Trinity. Down two goals after the first period Friday night, Colby fought back with two goals of their own (Beth Sinson, Maria Pierce). After a third score by Trinity's Jenny Guider to complete the hattrick, Breanna Studley netted the equalizer to force extra time. Skating for almost the duration of overtime scoreless, the Bantams scored with 20 seconds remaining to earn the victory.
In Saturday's matinee, Trinity scored three times in the second period and never looked back, completing their first sweep of the Mules since 2017. Meg Rittenhouse scored Colby's lone goal off an assist by Sophie Melsness. Rittenhouse continues to pace the NESCAC with 14 goals on the season, and Melsness leads the conference in assists with 12.
The Mules are now 12-5-1 on the season, ranked 6th in NESCAC.
Indoor Track & Field Into the Record Books at BU
The Indoor Track & Field teams split this week as the Mules continue gaining ground towards Indoor Championships.
Hosting the Colby Mini Meet Wednesday, Colby competed in three events and took home three gold medals. Alex Bingham (600M), Andrew Davis (One Mile), and Abby Souza (One Mile) all claimed the top step of the podium.
Headed to Boston University over the weekend for the Terrier Classic, two school records fell (Olivia Doherty - 500m, 4x4 400m Relay), and 16 Mules marched into the top-10 rankings in school history in their events. The 4x4 400m Relay of Tally Zeller, Kristina Pizzi, Kaitlyn Ewald, and Fiona Mejico is currently ranked 1st in Division III.
Men’s Basketball Faces Conn. College
In New London Sunday the Mules battled the Camels in hopes to build on their NESCAC record. Ranked third in the NESCAC standings, the Camels sent Colby home with a 81-53 defeat.
The two teams remained neck and neck through the first nine minutes of play for a 21-21 scoreline. However the Camels began to pull away going on a 21-7 run to close out the first half. Max Poulton gathered 16 points alongside six rebounds and two assists while Marcos Montiel contributed 13 points, two steals and three assists. Poulton, a sophomore, has scored in double-digits in all but two games this season and sits one point shy of 600 for his career.
Colby now with a 9-10 overall record (ninth in the NESCAC) will host Tufts Friday followed by Bates Saturday.
