Tokyo Postcard

For this project, I made a postcard that I felt really represented the vibes from Tokyo (at least the ones that I was getting when I visited in the summer). I learned a lot about typography, color schemes, gradients, and texturing in the process of making this postcard. Overall, I had a goal to represent Tokyo with a cohesive theme and colors and I think that I achieved this goal. I feel good about this postcard and though I think it can be improved, I am happy with how I did, especially considering it is the first thing I ever made in photoshop. I hope my audience can feel the Tokyo vibe that I was trying to get across.

Leap of Faith

For this project, I made a representation of growing up and how it feels like a leap of faith. I learned a lot about clipping masks, the rule of thirds, and how to stitch images together cohesively. My goal was to visually show how growing up is scary but ultimately achievable and uplifting. I feel good about this piece and think that it flows together pretty well. I hope younger audience members feel uplifted about the prospect of growing up and my older audience members recognize the process and feel good about what they have accomplished to get wherever they are in life.

Back to Us

For this project, I made a screen print poster of a fictional romance movie about a thief and the person trying to catch her. I learned about color schemes, brushes, and how to break images down into solid colors for this project. My goal was to convey a romantic feeling across in the piece as well as a bit of a contrast between the two main characters. I feel like the piece could be improved with a few of the colors and some texturing, but I’m happy with how it turned out overall. I hope that my audience gets at least a little interested in this fake movie (and shoutouts to anyone who recognizes my OTP).

The Way of Kings Cover

For this project, I made a mockup for the cover of one of my favorite books, The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. I learned how to transform certain images into cutouts of different media (stone in this case) and how to create depth in images. My goal was to create a representation of the best parts I remember from this book and even do a little bit of foreshadowing for the rest of the series. I feel good about this piece and I really like how the title on both the front cover and spine turned out. I hope any of my audience who have read the book recognize the elements I’ve included and any people who haven’t read it are interested in finding out exactly what each part means.
