Colmore Junior School autumn term: week: 10

Highlights of the week

What a truly packed and busy week we've had, ending with quite a soggy flourish! It was a week defined by important lessons and incredible community spirit. We began with a Remembrance Assembly, which informed up about the two minutes of silence we observed the following day. We also celebrated Children in Need on Thursday (due to Friday's schedule) and were utterly overwhelmed by your generosity—thanks to your fantastic contributions, we have raised over £1000 for this incredible cause! It was also lovely to see some children sporting odd socks this week as a colourful reminder of our commitment to standing up against bullying. We are, however, disappointed that the planned Year 6 trip to the National Memorial Arboretum had to be cancelled e due to the severe weather warnings. While the children missed the physical visit, their lessons throughout the week ensured they explored and learned about the numerous memorials in great detail. I hope everyone can enjoy a lovely, dry, and restful weekend!

Mr Gale

It was wonderful to see so many children taking part in Children In Need this week. We raised over £1000 thanks to the cake sale, donations, badge sales and handmade sales too. Thank you to all the parents for their support.

A managed to raise £42.19!
These girls raised £43.60!

Year 6 have been working on their history unit all about Britain at War. As part of their topic they have created these wonderful silhouette pictures. Watch this space for their World War One inspired poetry too, all about the life of a bullet and a young soldier.

Class 3O have been working hard in their computing lessons this week trying to work out whether it is always a good idea to use a digital device.

In their geography lessons this week, Year 5 have been finding out about the different types of farming in the uk. They created these super fact files which tell us all about arable, pastoral and mixed farming.

Year 3 have become cave dwellers this week! They explored what life was like in a cave and then experimented with making paint using a variety of different substances!

Year 5 have been tasting a range of different seasonal vegetables in preparation for their own pasta sauce designing next week. There were some mixed opinions on onions, spinach, peppers, aubergines and carrots!
6F have been perfecting their street dance sequences. Some excellent team work from the class and amazing routines!

Please donate any Lego or duplo to the office for our wet play games.

The newsletters are also accessible on the news section of our school website.
