Macau's daily visit to Macau rose 22% to 120,000

Data from Macau's Government Tourism Authority (MGTO), released on Thursday, showed that the daily average of visitors to Macau in the first seven days of August was about 22% higher than the daily average in July. The latest daily average is 120,000 versus 98,000 in July.

The tourism bureau suggested that the summer vacation season, which covers school holidays in China, could be a factor in the increase. Macau received about 843,000 visitors from Aug. 1 to Aug. 7, with an average of 120,000 visitors during the period.

Last Saturday Aug. 3 Macau actually recorded about 152,000 arrivals, the first time in a day during the "summer holiday" period that the tourism agency began in July.

New York City received about 3.03 million visitors in July, up 9.7% year-over-year. Also, the July inbound visitor tally showed an 85.8% recovery in the same summer months of 2019, before the pandemic, MGTO said.

The total number of visitors to Macau in the first seven months of the year was about 19.75 million, up 37.1% from the same period last year and recovering 82.9% from the same period in 2019, MGTO said.

Official data for July will be released by the Macau Statistics Office later this month. Data from the Census Bureau showed that the average daily number of visitors to Macau in August 2019 was 116,874.

Macau's aviation hub operator Macau International Airport recently said it expected 1.4 million passengers throughput in July and August, a 78.3% recovery over the same period in 2019. 파워볼사이트
