Bioinformatics and Virtual Reality Suite National Horizons centre (NHC)

Bioinformatics and virtual reality (VR) facilities
  • Bioinformatics suite with high specification workstations.
  • Linux high-performance computing server.
  • VR training suite with Meta Quest 3 VR headsets

These facilities are used for research, teaching, training, and outreach.

Bioinformatics suite

The Bioinformatics suite has 20 high specification workstations with dual-octal Intel Xeon CPUs, 256Gb RAM, NVIDIA 980Ti GPU and 512GB SSD with 4TB HDD.

These high power computers makes quick work of comparative genomics, large multi-dimensional data integration and interpretation, and clinical informatics.

Linux high-performance computing server
  • The Linux HPC server has configuration of
  • 124 threads.
  • 512 GB RAM.
  • 144 Terabyte of data storage.

The NHC Linux server is used to process and analyse large-scale datasets generated by high-throughput sequencing.

NHC VR training suite

The VR training suite has 5 VR bays and a dozen of VR headsets, providing immersive training environments for bioprocessing, medicines manufacturing, and soft skills.

VR provides near-real-life experiences of lab environments, and provides scalable and consistent training programs.
