FROM THE Principal’s Desk

Dear Bluejay Family,

The First Grade play and Live Nativity this past Friday was a resounding success! Our young performers captivated us with their talents and beautifully brought the story of Christmas to life. Please join me in a sincere thank you to our students, teachers, and all who attended, contributing to the magic of the season.

While we have some fun and exciting events planned for this final week of the semester, let’s also remember to stay focused on any remaining tests and, especially, Jr. High exams. The end of the week will present us with lots of opportunities for celebration as we hold our annual Advent Parties. It's beautiful to witness the enthusiasm of our students as they engage in activities that reflect the true meaning of this season. Please review communications from your classroom teacher(s) for specific details for your child.

Last, but not least, the deadline to complete re-enrollment online is Wednesday, December 20. Your early commitment to re-enrollment is invaluable as it allows us to plan and prepare for the upcoming school year well in advance. Easy-to-follow directions can be found below in the Announcements section. Your prompt response is greatly appreciated and contributes to the smooth planning process.

Thank you for your continued support. I wish you and your family a blessed Christmas and a joyful holiday season. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to the school office.

Grace and Peace,

Erin B. Henry

Principal

“The Lord bless you and keep you! The Lord let his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you! The Lord look upon you kindly and give you peace!”

QUICK LINKS

Curriculum and Instruction

Grades 6-8 Make Up Testing Center

Thank you all for a VERY successful first semester with the testing center. As we move forward please note the following to continue to serve our students in this process best:

  • Use the signup sheet located in your teachers’ Google classroom to sign up so the teacher can have the test ready for you
  • Please note the teacher needs to have at least one school day to get the test to the center for the student (i.e. signing up late the night before for a morning session the following day will not be feasible)
  • Please do not pick up your child until 3:05 pm for afternoon testing. If your child finishes early they can wait with the carline riders until you arrive to get them at the carline benches. This is for their safety and security so they are not confused about where you are to pick them up and can focus on the test.
  • The testing center is in our Spanish classroom located in the gym
  • Please note the times for the testing center. They do not change:
  • Monday/Wednesday afternoons from 2:45-3:20 pm
  • Tuesday/Thursday mornings from 7:20-7:55 am

AR Points and Service Hours

AR points and service hours will be due Tuesday, December 19 for the 2nd 9 weeks. This is just a reminder to continue to work towards your progress!

Quarter 2 Report Card Release

Grades K-8 will have their report cards released both through the parent portal as well as emailed to those listed as correspondence on the FACTS account (just as progress reports were).

IMPORTANT: Please note students in grades 4-8 will also get their report cards emailed to their account so they can be fully aware of their grades as we work with them to track their progress. This is how both report cards and progress reports will be released for the remainder of the year.

Dear Bluejay Family,

Soccer and basketball were in full swing this week. There was a lot of exciting basketball and soccer played this week home and away. Notably, our 5th grade girls went on the road and won big against Vermilion Catholic! Soccer notched another victory against Catholic High in its only action of the week due to weather on Saturday. Our 7th grade boys beat St. Genevieve to open the week in dramatic fashion. The 8th grade boys basketball team won on a buzzer beater to beat St. Pius. Thanks to Coach Scott Froehlich for sharing the video which I have placed below for everyone to see! Finally, our 8th grade basketball boys played in the Junior Sunkist Shootout at STM on Saturday.

More importantly, our basketball teams took a step off of the hardwood to participate in the annual basketball fundraiser for the Healing House. This event was spearheaded by Coach Jarret Lasseigne and Mrs. Cristy Savoie. The items were collected on Friday and will be delivered on Monday. This is another example of the wonderful leadership that is our coaches and staff and how they mix faith with sports here.

Baseball and softball signups went live this week. Also, the championship store is live for our volleyball and football fans to show their school spirit.

There is a tab on the top horizontal bar for championship apparel. Thanks again for your support of SCS Athletics!
