Get your home spring-ready!

Spring is just around the corner, and there is no better time to prepare your home for the warmer months ahead. Central Georgia EMC (CGEMC) is here to help ensure your home is energy-efficient, comfortable, and ready to handle the changing seasons.

1. HVAC Tuneup—Make It a Priority

Before the heat sets in, schedule a professional HVAC tuneup to ensure your system runs efficiently. Regular maintenance helps extend your unit’s lifespan, improves performance, and reduces energy costs. Replace air filters every one to three months to keep airflow strong and your indoor air quality high. A well-maintained system prevents breakdowns and keeps your home cool when you need it most.

2. Seal Those Windows and Doors—Stop the Leaks

Do not let cool air escape! Check for drafts around windows and doors by running your hand along the edges or using a lit candle to detect airflow. Seal gaps with weatherstripping or caulk to prevent energy loss. This simple fix can improve comfort and reduce cooling costs!

3. Upgrade Your Thermostat—Take Control of Savings

A smart or programmable thermostat can help cut energy costs by automatically adjusting the temperature when you are away or asleep. This can help you avoid unnecessary energy use while maintaining comfort.

4. Discover More Ways to Save—Small Changes, Big Impact

Looking for more ways to maximize energy efficiency? Visit www.cgemc.com/together-we-save for DIY tips, energy-saving calculators, and expert guidance. Small changes—like using LED bulbs, upgrading insulation, and running appliances during off-peak hours—can lead to big savings.

Getting ahead of seasonal energy demands starts today. Implement these tips to keep your home comfortable and your energy bills low. At CGEMC, we are dedicated to helping you save—because together, we make it happen!

Pro Tip: To ensure optimal performance and safety, programmable thermostats are best installed by a licensed professional. A proper installation guarantees compatibility with your HVAC system and helps prevent potential issues.

Repair, Refresh, and Renovate With a 2025 CGEMC Residential Rebate!

Did you know that nearly half of the energy used in your home goes to heating and cooling? Upgrading an outdated or aging system can save you money. If your unit is more than 10 years old and needs frequent repairs, it may be time to replace it.

Water heaters use more energy than your refrigerator, clothes washer, dishwasher, and dryer combined. Upgrading your water heater can save you hundreds of dollars every year on energy costs. Visit www.cgemc.com for all the details and to see if you qualify.

*A load management switch must be installed on qualifying equipment by a Central Georgia EMC employee before the rebate can be processed. The load management switch must remain on equipment and in operating status as long as Central Georgia EMC has a load management program. Limit one (1) qualifying heat pump and/or one (1) qualifying water heater rebate per member/household. Heat pump and/or water heater must have been installed on or after January 1, 2025.

You can claim up to $3,200 on your federal taxes for Energy Efficient Home improvements

The Residential Clean Energy Credit, part of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, is a federal tax credit encouraging homeowners to invest in renewable energy for their homes, such as solar, wind, geothermal heat pumps, fuel cells, or cutting-edge battery storage technology.

The credit covers 30% of the costs of new, qualified, clean energy property for your home installed from 2022 through 2032. After 2032, the credit will decrease to 26% for 2033 and 22% for 2034.

Operation Round Up Spotlight: Rachel's Gift

CGEMC's Operation Round Up Foundation recently helped bring hope and healing to grieving families through a $5,000 grant to Rachel’s Gift Inc. This funding provides vital follow-up support for families throughout CGEMC's territory. Support is provided to families who have experienced the heartbreaking loss of an infant, ensuring they do not navigate their grief alone.

Rachel's Gift would not be able to serve the amount of families we do in the community without the help of Operation Round Up. Families experiencing infant loss often feel alone and isolated, as there is typically not the outpouring of support through the funeral process as there is after the loss of an older family member who had many connections of friends and family. Filling that gap while helping friends and family learn how to reach out effectively to their loved ones experiencing infant loss is part of our mission. Making sure they have keepsakes of their baby when they leave the hospital, and good guidance and help with the decisions they have to make are the others. We are so grateful to those who choose to round up and partner with us in this mission!—Lori Beth Blaney, Rachel’s Gift Inc. Director

By rounding up your electric bill, you can help support meaningful programs like this and make a real difference in our community. Together, we are changing lives—one act of kindness at a time! Scan the QR Code to enroll in Operation Round Up. Learn more about Rachel's Gift at www.rachelsgift.org.

Qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations in our service territory are invited to submit an application to the Central Georgia EMC Foundation.

Through Operation Round Up, our members support local organizations with a mission to make our communities even better places to live, work, and dream big. By simply rounding up your monthly electric bill to the next dollar, you can join in! Our pennies add up to make BIG CHANGE!
