Museum Description: My theme for my museum is feelings. This theme is very important to me, I have always been an emotional person and I try to understand how others might feel or why it is they are feeling some type of way. I want to feel the sadness and worry. I will include artworks that show emotions. Including love, sadness, power, death, and worry.
Impact Statement: I want my visitors to feel the emotions. I want to leave them thinking about what happened or why they feel the way they feel. I want other to be considerate of others feeling and understand you might not be the only one going through something. I try to make it a habit of always being aware of others and their feelings. I think this is something other should do as well, we all go through certain things in life and we should try to understand each other.
ROOM ONE: Eternal Rest
In room one I have added 4 pieces that relate to Eternal rest such as artworks that give a sense of peace. I've added some pieces with beautiful color that stood out to me and I felt belonged in this room.
Georges Rouault "Obedient Unto Death, Even the Death of the Cross" 1948
Georges-Henri Rouault was a French painter, draughtsman, and printmaker, his work was often associated with Fauvism and Expressionism. He was known for his deep emotional works.
(FORM) Georges Rouault used thin black lines. The heavy outlines and vibrant colors create a marked effect. His brushwork looks rough and extremely textured. His brushwork adds emotional intensity and gives the painting a raw look. The cross symbolizes the sacrifice. The empty background keeps our focus on Christ.
I selected this piece to be part of my room because of the heavy outlines and the brushwork. The features on this artwork are bold and caught eye. This art work fit well with my room titled "Eternal Rest".

The subtext is the note which represent a form of betrayal. When looking close up to his face he has a calm look to his face almost as if he is relaxed. The shadows behind him and around him making his body stand out to us. The bright green bathtub draws your attention to Marat. When I wear my green jewelry it reminds me of growth and also sickness.
In this painting we witnessing Marat in his bathtub as he bleeds out. I added this painting to my room because the death of an individual causes sadness and grief to other around. This painting fits well with my theme.
The Death of Samson 1650
(CONTEXT AND FORM) Emotional Expression The figures in this painting that surround him show emotions through their face expressions. Their face expression caught my eye, it really adds to the dramatic scene. In this painting i see diagonal lines which add movement and tension to this painting. Rich dark colors are used to enhance the intense atmosphere of the scene. The use of red, brown, and black add a dramatic effect.
This painting feature very bright vibrant colors. These colors are so beautiful to me I love how much they stood out to me.
Peter Paul Rubens, The Death of Dido, 1640
Sir Peter Paul Rubens was a Flemish artist and diplomat.
(CONTEXT) This painting features a tragic moment as the Queen of Carthage takes her own life. The Queen of Carthage was abandoned by Aeneas. Rubens did an amazing job at capturing the emotional and dramatic climax of this story. Her facial expressions show the emotional pain she was feeling from being abandoned.
I choose this painting to be part of my room because of the emotions, I noticed facial expressions is this painting which I feel fit well with my theme.
ROOM TWO: Cupid's Corner
In room two we will explore multiple aspects of love. A kiss is a way yo communicate love and affection. A kiss is a powerful way to express emotions.
Paolo and Francesca da Rimini, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, 1867
Paolo and Francesca fell in love. The brother discovered their affair and killed the two lovers, condemning his brother and his wife to an eternity in Hell. Rossetti's painting captures two lovers Paolo and Francesca as they share a kiss while they read the story of Lancelot and Guinevere.
(FORM) Composition The painting draws our eyes to Paolo and Francesca. His attention to detail on their clothes and hair adds to the emotional depth of this scene. Vibrant colors The red and green clothing as well as the dark background makes the lovers stand out.
This painting fit well with my room because these two were showing affection to one another. The flowers seen throughout this painting was another reason I choose this to be part of this room, I love receiving flowers it reminds me of love.
Venus and Cupid (after Raphael), 1636 Pieter van Lint

Use of warm and soft colors increase the sensuality of the scene. The light is used to highlight the figures. (CONTENT) Symbolism: Bow and arrow symbolize the power of love.

This photo is so romantic which I LOVE! The swing is interesting, i have never seen a swing like this one before. This photo fit well with my room because of the romance.

Room Three: Sadness Suite
In the final room we are going to take a look at moments where individuals feel hopeless, lost confused, and sad. There are multiple ways one might feel sadness or helpless, we will explore and take a look at some of those emotions.
[Sad boy]Oscar Gustave Rejlander 1872
Portrait of a young boy sitting with one hand to his head and one knee lifted. He has curly hair and has a sad expression.
(FORM) Lighting This little boy stood out to me the reason being lack of vibrant color which draws our attention to the boy. Oscar directed our attention to the boy's expression. Oscars use of chiaroscuro lighting highlights the boy's facial features. Texture The image features extreme detail and texture like in his clothing.
I decided to add this portrait to room 3 because of the emotional state of this little boy. Rejlander did a good job capturing the expression and emotional state of the boy. This image reminds me of when I took a look at some old baby pictures my mom had, I had some similar photos like this little boy here.
Mario, Crying After Being Bitten by Dog, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 1961
(CONTENT) Mario is crying after being bit by a dog. Regardless of the busy background our eyes are drawn to Mario. The black and white also make him stand out and easier for us to focus our attention on him. If this photo had bright color I would find it difficult to focus on Mario because of how much is happening around him. We don't notice that busy background as much because of the colors. Mario is in a vulnerable state and helpless.
I added this photo because I can relate to Mario. I have been bitten by dog before and it is not fun! I most defiantly was screaming for help.
[Woman in torn clothes] 1930–1935 Robert A. Officer
(FORM AND CONTENT) This photograph captures a moment of struggle. Her facial expressions make me think that she is struggling and needs help. The torn up clothes may symbolize poverty of being assaulted. From what I can I see in this photograph I would assume she was assaulted because she looks well put together. Her hair looks beautiful, she has flats on, and a pearl necklace.
I added this photo to the room because of her facial expressions as well as how helpless she looks.
Abia and Isabel da Silva, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 1961 Gordon Parks
(FORM) The lighting adds contrast and highlights details. The angle to this image is a up-close angle which makes it easy to understand. (CONTENT) The photograph shows poverty and struggles. The facial expressions on the little girl with the white dress on represent a variety of emotions one being sadness.
This photo reminded me of the first picture I added to this room, the little boy and this girl have the same facial expressions. With her hand up that shows me that she is sad and very scared.
My goal was to show you all many ways one shows emotions that being love, sadness, worry, and death. Emotions are a big part of our everyday life. When you wake up in the morning do you wake up happy to start your day? When your shift at work ends are you happy to go home? Do you look forward to the happiness you feel when it is your birthday? Do you cry or feel frustrated when something doesn't go your way? How do you deal with grief? What does your life look like? What do you deal with on a daily basis?
