These abstract photos were taken in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The main subject is almost all Aspen trees and surrounded by native plants, shrubs, and bushes. Spring, summer, and fall colors add beauty to the wonder in the woods.
ICM, short for ‘Intentional Camera Movement,’ is to produce in-camera movement while taking photos. The streaking lines produced or the ‘painterly' feeling of an ICM photo is abstract and can be artsy.
ICM has several shooting modes. Movement is introduced while the shutter is open. Moving the camera slightly down or up, rolling the lens inward or outward, and sliding the camera left to right, are all part of ICM techniques. When the right subject is chosen, the results can turn a mundane and lifeless scene into an expressionist piece.
My photography starts with the art of observation, and that comes from paying attention to my environment. I use the element of the witness consciously. My photos range from the environment to human interest depiction—these images, partnered with essays, tell even more of the narratives. - Raj Manickam | AllinGoodLight

Golden Glitter
This is a slower shutter shoot. The shimmer from the golden Aspen leaves drew out the expressionist look in this photo. Abstract style in ICM photography has no rules, but we photographers sometimes get lucky to be "painters" using the camera sensors as our canvas. These unexpected outcomes are worth gold!

This scene embodies the free-flowing spirit of the land, a reminder of how it once was before fences divided what is yours and mine. In a world of defined boundaries, these open spaces offer solace and a glimpse of unrestrained freedom.

Cattail Blues
'Cattail Blues' captures the melancholic motion swaying gently. Cattails intrigue me for their historical significance, having been used by Native Americans for baskets, mats, and poultices, and their ecological role in trapping sediments and silt. This photograph reflects the quiet yet vital contributions of cattails, as they sway to nature's rhythm and sing the blues through the breeze.

Pine Forrest
Spring colors in the forest are bright. When the leaves of shrubs and Aspens initially spring, there is a certain fresh feel. Blush and Bold
Pink is an interposed color between red and white. The hidden gem in these woods is the resilience of each organism, bush, plant, and tree — each one is integral and has a bold role in its ecosystem. 'Blush and Bold' is a screensaver on my second monitor. It reminded me of my daughter when she was at the very young age of 4. She loved pink and all shades in between. Today, as a young woman, she is bolder than bold.

Golden Fullness
Aspens are deciduous trees and change colors in Fall. Gold or yellow has always existed in the leaves. As the photosynthetic activities decrease and chlorophyll fade in the autumn season, the golden shades of aspen leaves reveal the wonders of this largest living organism.
