Welcome to Jönköping Study Visit and Peer Review, 27- 28 August 2025

Dear Persist participants,

We are pleased to invite you to a two-day study visit in Jönköping this autumn, hosted by Region Jönköpings län, the lead partner of the interregional project PERSIST.
Together with colleagues from across Europe, you will explore how Open Discovery Processes (ODP) can drive sustainable regional transformation and foster strategic collaboration within Smart Specialisation frameworks.

During the visit, you will have the opportunity to:

Join a thematic seminar featuring expert insights and interactive discussions
Discover innovative regional initiatives through site visits
Take part in a peer review session of Region Jönköping’s governance approaches, with feedback and exchange based on the PERSIST methodology
Share experiences and build meaningful connections with other project partners

To round off the first day, we invite you to a relaxed and social activity in nature. A memorable evening awaits — with good company under the trees and a meal enjoyed in the heart of the forest.

As it includes light physical movement such as walking, we recommend bringing:

  • Comfortable shoes,
  • outdoor clothing suitable for variable weather,
  • a warm layer or rain jacket – late August evenings in Sweden can be a little chilly, and there may be occasional rain.

From Jönköping’s bus station, walk south along Järnvägsgatan, turn left onto Västra Storgatan, and follow it along Lake Munksjön until you reach John Bauer Hotel. The walk takes about 5–10 minutes.

Walking directions from John Bauer Hotel to Science Park Jönköping

It takes about 10 minutes on foot to walk from the hotel to Science Park Jönköping, Gjuterigatan 9.
  • Leave the hotel and walk east on Södra Strandgatan. Keep going straight until you reach Västra Storgatan. Turn left and walk about 500 meters. Then turn right onto Gjuterigatan and continue straight — Science Park Jönköping will be on your right.
