This digital portfolio highlights the creative journey and technical skills learned throughout the semester.
Each section reflects a key project aligned with real-world digital communication and design practices.
Students explored Adobe Express to create visuals, animations, web layouts, and multimedia content, building foundational skills in digital storytelling.
"About Me" Poster
Project Summary: Students created a personalized “About Me” page to introduce themselves visually.
Adobe Express Tools Used:
- Custom layout templates
- Fonts and color palettes for branding
- Photo editing and background removal
Project Reflection: Students used icons and images to represent their hobbies and values while familiarizing how to use Adobe Express tools.
School Poster
Project Summary: Students designed a school poster to promote an event, value, or club using core design principles.
Adobe Express Tools Used:
- Poster templates
- Text effects and shape elements
- Layer management and grid alignment
Project Reflection: Students learned how contrast and hierarchy make their work more eye-catching. Adobe Express helped them experiment with fonts and colors quickly, giving designs a professional look.
Frame-by-Frame Animation
Project Summary: Students designed a school poster to promote an event, value, or club using core design principles.
Adobe Express Tools Used:
- Animated text and elements
- GIF export
- Timeline and motion tools
Project Reflection: Students learned how to give motion a natural feel, while maintaining a cohesive design. Students were instructed to build their own animations similar to these movements.
Self portr(AI)t
Project Summary: Students created a stylized character self-portrait using generative AI prompts to reflect their identity, personality, and creative vision. The goal was to develop a portrait that goes beyond realism to represent who they are as a character, whether grounded in reality, fantasy, or symbolic expression.
Adobe Express + AI Tools Used:
- Word prompt generation for AI art
- Composition and stylistic references
- Artistic filters and overlays in Adobe Express for final touches
- Typography and captioning to support theme
Reflection: For students' AI-generated self-portraits, they were instructed to craft a character reflecting both their outward appearance and inner creative identity. Students began with a series of descriptive prompts (mentioning hairstyle, color tones, wardrobe style, favorite environments, and emotional tone). They also referenced artists and visual styles that resonated, such as digital concept art.
MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION
ANIMATED CHARACTER
This is a sample video from one of my students, Luna Montes. Although I didn't create this animated video, Luna demonstrated full control of audio voiceover and animated transitions to help her audience (Trade Tech Students) remain engaged while her character walks though each day of Spirit Week!
SUMMARY
Students build real-world creative and technical skills used in today’s digital media industries by learning to design, animate, and present using Adobe Express. Showcasing their work in a professional portfolio helps them communicate ideas visually and think critically like designers, content creators, and marketers. These tools lay the foundation for future careers in digital communication, design, and multimedia production.
