🏆 2025 SEC Champions 🥇

The Gamecocks made history in 2025, winning the program's second SEC Championship at Pelican Golf Club on April 18. Senior All-American Louise Rydqvist made a 50-foot birdie putt on hole 17 to secure the decisive third point as the Gamecocks defeated No. 24 Florida 4.5-0.5 in the title bout. She and standout freshman Eila Galitsky each went 3-0 in their matches to help lead Carolina to victory. The Gamecocks also made history as the first No. 1 seed from stroke to win the SEC Championship since the league switched to its new match play format at the 2018 SEC Tournament. Galitsky, Rydqvist and Darling all finished in the top-10 in stroke play.
Upon arrival to Columbia after winning the SEC Championship, head football coach Shane Beamer invited the team on the field to be recognized in front of 40,000 Gamecock fans in attendance for the annual spring football game. The team headed straight to Williams-Brice Stadium after landing at the airport to be honored.

"I am dedicated to building a championship program at the University of South Carolina. The Gamecock women's golf team is committed to achieving short-game and scoring game excellence, and our much of our practice time reflects this goal. I also place a strong emphasis on building individual relationships and finding what motivates players on an individual level. I focus on individual skill development within a competitive, supportive team environment. I bring intensity to practices and training, while also creating a structure that allows players to lead a balanced life as a student-athlete." - Kalen Anderson

DARIUS RUCKER INTERCOLLEGIATE

Since 2012, South Carolina and Long Cove Club have partnered to put on one of the nation's premier collegiate events in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate on Hilton Head Island, S.C.

The annual event, which takes place in March, features one of the best fields in the country every year. The field features double-digit numbers of top-25 programs every year.

Country music star Darius Rucker is heavily involved and he puts on a private concert for all the teams after the conclusion of the practice round every year.

An army of volunteers help make everything extremely special. It's also tradition for teams to stay at beach houses in Sea Pines, a gated community close to the course.

The tournament made history in 2022, teaming up with Golf Channel to air the entirety of the three-day, 54-hole event live (21 hours of air time and coverage). It was the first ever all-women's college event to be shown live on the Golf Channel. The 2025 event was broadcast live for the fourth-straight season by Golf Channel who will continue its support of the event and women's collegiate golf going forward.

All-American Louise Rydqvist was co-champion of the 2025 Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, earning her second career win. It marked the third-straight Gamecock champion at the event.
All-American Hannah Darling captured co-champion honors at the 2024 Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. It was her first college win as she became the second Gamecock to win the prestigious event.
All-American Mathilde Claisse became the first Gamecock to win the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in 2023. It was her first career victory in her fourth and final appearance at The Darius.

The fan support at our lone home event is second to none as patrons from around HHI show out for the home team Gamecocks. The volunteers and members at Long Cove Club help make our tournament truly special and the best regular season collegiate event in the nation. There is been record breaking attendance the last three years with over 3,000 patrons attending in 2025.

Photos from the 2022 Darius Rucker Intercollegiate are below. Our head football coach Shane Beamer came down to attend the concert and support our girls in competition. He is a huge supporter of the program and you will see him often hanging out at the facility.

CAMPUS

The University of South Carolina's campus is located in the heart of downtown Columbia, which serves as the state's capital.

Our great university is part of a select group of higher-learning institutions to earn the Carnegie top-tier designation in both research activity and community engagement. According to national publications like Kiplinger’s Inc., Forbes and U.S. News and World Report, our programs stack up against the best in the nation and around the world.

SODA CITY

You are guaranteed to have a one of a kind experience attending our University with a thriving urban community surrounding our campus that has a great local food scene, excellent shopping and an abundance of entertainment options.

Columbia is affectionately known as the "Soda City" by locals, but not because any soda was invented or manufactured here. Instead, the nickname comes from an old abbreviation of Columbia to "Cola."

In 1786 the South Carolina Assembly voted to move the state capital to Columbia, a more geographically, centralized location than Charleston.

Columbia, the largest city in the state, is located in the center of South Carolina at the junctions of Interstates 20, 26 and 77 - it was South Carolina's first planned city (wide streets arranged in a grid pattern) and the second planned city in the United States (Savannah, Georgia was the first).

It is centrally located and you are 2 hours from the coast (Charleston, Hilton Head Island and Myrtle Beach), 2 hours from the mountains (Greenville and Asheville), 60 minutes from Augusta (home to the ANWA and The Masters), 90 minutes from Charlotte and 3 hours from Atlanta.
