What a fantastic team effort from the children this week as they transformed their classroom. We handed over full responsibility for decorating the Christmas tree, and they did brilliantly — even if there isn't a single millimetre left uncovered by tinsel!
With a little help, the children used paper and scissors to make snowflakes, and paper strips with glue to create colourful paper chains. It may sound simple, but it took a great deal of concentration, and plenty of determination when things didn’t go quite to plan.
In writing this week, we’ve been focusing on the ‘dot and jab’ movement, an important skill for future letter formation. The children danced, painted, and made marks using a variety of different tools, all helping to strengthen those early writing muscles. We’ve also seen plenty of enthusiastic mark-making and letter talk in our new Santa Cafe, which has been a big hit!
Our reading area has had a little upgrade this week with the addition of some Christmas stories, creating an inviting space for the children to cosy up with a festive book.
And a big thank-you to all the parents who joined our Hooks into Books session on Thursday. I hope you enjoy reading the free book with your child at home.
And finally, here are a few lovely photos to give you a glimpse into our activities this week.
