VICTORIAN STATE SCHOOLS SPECTACULAR I was privileged to attend the Victorian State Schools Spectacular at John Cain Arena on Saturday afternoon. 16 of our Grade 5 and 6 students under the guidance of teachers Jackie Rielly and Renee Davey saw the culmination of all of their dedicated rehearsing and practising when they got to perform seven dance numbers as part of the dance ensemble. With rehearsals all day Thursday and Friday, and then a matinee and evening performance on Saturday they all have every right to be exhausted but also to be extremely proud of their efforts and talents. Well done to everyone and thanks, too, to the parents who attended and supported their children. I’m sure it will be a lifelong memory!!

GRADE 6 CAMP Our Grade 6 campers arrived back yesterday afternoon after a unique camping experience staying at the Urban Camp in Parkville for the first three days of the week. Thanks to staff and parent volunteers for helping to make the camp a memorable one for all who took part.

VICTORIAN SOFTBALLERS Congratulations to two of our Grade 6 students, Joachim Lai and Will Booth, on their selection in the Victorian Schools Softball team for 2025. An outstanding achievement of which you should both be very proud.

HOLIDAY HAPPENINGS As always, there are a few happenings at school over the break with the long-awaited Indigenous mural taking shape in the first week of the holidays created by well known artist, Simone Thompson. The foundation students will return to newly carpeted rooms after the break and we will also have our usual grounds crew in to consolidate the work done at Sunday’s working bee.

FINAL ASSEMBLY AND EARLY DISMISSAL A final reminder that term 3 concludes with a whole school assembly commencing in the gymnasium at 2.05pm and finishing by 2.30pm. Students, as usual, will be dismissed from the gym at that time.

WORKING BEE THANKS Thank you to our loyal volunteers who turned up on Sunday to help give the school a bit of a spruce up for the holiday break. As always, it was adeptly coordinated by Michael Parrent our Viewbank Grounds Group guru, with plenty of tasks to keep everyone occupied. Particular thanks to representatives of the following families – Parrent, Andreou, Walsh, Kersing, Cadusch, Giap, Ajredini, Finlayson, Bailey, La Rosa, Pradeep, Selvaraj, Kennaugh - and to anyone else who turned up, but forgot to sign on!!

THANK YOU Thank you to everyone for all of your efforts and support over Term 3. As always, it has been busy but productive. Have a wonderful spring break and I hope that everyone is able to have some quality down time over the next few weeks. We look forward to seeing everyone back on deck on Monday, October 5 for another busy but engaging Term 4.

Kind regards,

Bill Kersing

We are thrilled with the mural that has been completed this week on the Lascelles Avenue ramp by artist, Hayden Dewar. Hayden has bought to life his concept of a young child sitting cross legged on a eucalyptus tree branch reading a book. Colourful forms are emerging from the book and spiralling around the tree branches, conveying the magic of reading and of nature.

Thank you Hayden, for this creative and colourful addition to our school.

I hope everyone has a fun and restful holiday. Stay safe and I look forward to seeing everyone next term.

Gill
