STAAR season is over! However, there is still plenty to learn in the classroom. With just four weeks left of the school year, it is critical we encourage students to stay the course. Students must remain in the classroom from bell to bell. If a student is given a hall pass, they have 3-4 minutes to return to class. I bring this to your attention because students tend to think that once STAAR testing is over, classwork isn't as important. They want to be in the halls to see friends. Students that do not remain in class will be sent home and possibly suspended the next school day. ¡La temporada STAAR ha terminado! Sin embargo, todavía hay mucho que aprender en el aula. Con sólo cuatro semanas del año escolar, es fundamental que animemos a los estudiantes a mantener el rumbo. Los estudiantes deben permanecer en el aula de campana a campana. What's Your Big Idea?
Once again, we had a large number of our students submit entrepreneurial ideas to the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce's What's Your Big Idea? competition. This year we had four students make it to the final competition this weekend! Please help me in congratulating them and thanking Ms. Alexander for her hard work in supporting our students! Dress Code Policy
Students will be given disposable scrubs to wear when they are out of dress code. The disposable scrubs need to be returned upon leaving the building. Metal Detectors
All Secondary AISD students (grades 7th-12th) will proceed through metal detectors every day. To help our process run efficiently, students need to remove most items containing metal from their backpacks as they will set off the metal detector--binders, umbrellas, metal cases, and metal water bottles. Students will hand these items to the staff member standing at the metal detector. Once they walk through, the staff member will return their items. Tables are available for students to return items to their backpack. Small items such as jewelry, keys, and phones do not need to be removed because they should not set off the detectors. Those students carrying an instrument will open the instrument case for inspection. Finally, students participating in early morning athletics will follow a similar procedure prior to practice. Todos los estudiantes de secundaria de AISD (grados 7º a 12º) pasarán por los detectores de metales todos los días. Transportation
All buses now use route numbers instead of bus numbers. Please ensure your child memorizes the route number as bus numbers can change, but bus route numbers never change. All buses drop-off and pick-up on the north side of campus.
